Stupid Republican idea of the day

And there’s the thing. If he was really a person of importance to their cause, if he was really someone powerful in that community, if he had their support, then someone would jump at the chance to represent him in court.

But the likelihood of getting paid is probably more of a concern there.

Seems it would be bad for business as well.

I get annoyed with people upset that there are defense attorneys that will defend murderers or rapists or pedaphiles or what not. That’s what a defense attorney does, they defend people who have been (rightly or wrongly) accused of doing things that most of us find repugnant. It is a necessary service, and even those accused of heinous crimes deserve representation. The only way I would judge a defense attorney is on his results, not his clients.

Civil’s a bit different. The civil cases you choose to take on do say something about the type of practice that is run. I could certainly understand people choosing to take their business elsewhere if a law firm represented a white supremacist in a civil matter.

I remember that some attorney general ( ? or something ) was asked how attorneys can defend people like Dahmer ( or Bundy or whoever it was ). He said something like that everybody must have competent defense… so we can hang the bastard legally.
He was probably retired at the time he said that

This guy’s a dentist? I wouldn’t go to him, I’d be constantly asking myself “Is it safe?” :stuck_out_tongue: Also, the Capitol Police should be more focused on keeping dangerous (and quite alien) Gozerians out of the Capitol.

The latter react like a vampire to garlic upon seeing the word “union” regardless of context.

He is listed on Ballotpedia as a Democrat the last time he ran for election.

He’s listed on the Wikipedia Michigan Senate Election 2018 page as a Republican primary candidate for Senate District 15.

Minnesota Republicans are terrified that Muslim-Americans are “infiltrating” the party by doing such insidious things as holding classes about how party caucuses work.

Not sure how you can infiltrate something that’s open to the public and you already have the right to participate in, but here we are.

I may be missing the nuances in the difference here, so I retract my complaint. The whole “jury can’t take Shrkeli seriously” thing is still pretty awful, though.

As an active Minnesota democrat, I’m concerned that this training mentions Republicans.

Why should they consider going where they’re not wanted, when the MN Democratic Party recently added a sub-group specifically to welcome Muslim Americans to the party? And with a seat on the State Executive Committee, no less.

So if Minnesota muslims really do support traditional Republican policies (just not the racist ones), they shouldn’t join the Republican party?

Gosh, what about all the hispanic Republicans?

What about African christians?

There’s nothing wrong at any level with the Republican party being mentioned in classes and presentations about how to join political parties and get involved. If I was a traditional moderate/conservative non-racist Republican, I’d be offended if such classes went out of their way to avoid mentioning my party.

The point is that the Republicans there are on record saying any Muslim wanting to join them is part of a terrorist plot and unwanted.

But it is kinda cute that you think Republicans have any non-racist policies.

Given the absolute silence on the subject from the rest of the Republican party, I think we can safely assume that you are factually correct.

In an unprecedented move, the Arizona state House of Representatives has fired one of its members for creating a “hostile work environment”.

Am I reading this wrong or does this seem like one of the only admirable things Arizona has done in a long time? Or are you pitting the expelled?

It was a pit of the expelled.

Ah - thank you. Apologize for the confusion.

I wasn’t clear.

The California state legislature has come out with a list of state legislators who have been accused of sexual misconduct, only one of whom is a Republican (well, there are very few Republicans in the California state legislature). That Republican just happens to be running for Governor. He claims the report is a Democratic smear against him. Er, did you notice, Senator, how many Democrats’ names are on the list?

The head of the Fish and Wildlife Service has attended a convention dedicated to trophy hunting.

Yep, I serviced that one from fifty yards, only took four shots to hit him! Had to follow him in the helicopter couple hours until he bled out…
