Hey, Remington Arms is heading to bankruptcy; jobs dontchaknow.
But have they thought this through? Aren’t teachers unionized in many places? Don’t they go Democratic in elections? You sure you want to arm them?
This idiot - Betsy - was born a billionaire - couldn’t her parents have afforded an education for her? Can’t they afford a person to read and reason out her pronouncements before she opens her mouth?
Where are these billions coming from to arm all the teachers? Billions for training? Building gun ranges? Qualification shooting and re-qualification standards?
So many questions. Perhaps I should tune into Fox and Friends or Hannity for answers?
One of the right-wing screwballs on my Facebook feed has been forwarding an item suggesting that we go out and find some unemployed veterans, arm them and place three of them on guard in each school. You know, kind of like Wal-Mart greeters. Who can kill you.
A military recruiting office in my area was guarded by armed volunteers a while back. Until one of them accidentally shot a hole in the pavement. (And he had a prior conviction for the same thing. :smack:)
They all think they’re super crack shots and would have definitely been Super Duper Special Forces if only Clinton and Obama hadn’t made the requirements so insanely high.
Finding a solution to this Dunning-Kruger epidemic should be fairly high priority, really…
I like it. I propose a related idiom for ill-informed futile flailing or empty gestures in place of coherent intelligent solutions: “The highway department has been in chaos ever since half the snowplow fleet went on the fritz two days before last week’s blizzard. Nobody knows what to tackle first and they’re just devossing around hoping the problems will go away.”*
*Apologies to hard-working, well-run highway departments everywhere for appearing to even distantly associate them with the spectacular incompetence and venality of this administration.
Everyone who has more than 2 neurons still firing in their brain concluded long ago that Fox News is racist, homophobic, xenophobic, far-right propaganda that’s completely unconcerned with facts. It was so thoroughly demonstrated during the Bush and Obama years that I think people have just given up on bothering to point it out.
There’s a reason their demographic averages age 65 (70 on some of the more ludicrous shows). You have to be from a time when racism, sexism, and authoritarianism were more widely accepted to actually take the network seriously…and a touch of senility doesn’t hurt.
I’m 70 and I refuse to watch Faux News because I would really like to see 71 … and what their “news” does to my blood pressure lessens that possibility a great deal.
Not to mention homeless persons. Even setting aside all the other problems, every person who is living in a car or on the streets will have their benefits cut in half, and receive nothing to replace it. That’s 600,000 chronically homeless persons and 2 - 2.5 million who experience some degree of homelessness the U.S. each year.
