This. It’s become apparent that some people are perfectly comfortable profiting from the suffering of others even if they have to manufacture that suffering.
[underline mine]
you misspelled “especially”.
Just sayin’ for the heathens and heretics in the Peanut Gallery, luci was making a funny:
34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
The bridge collapse in Florida is apparently Obama’s fault. Or so says World News Daily, which I will not link to.
Adam Schiff tweeted that Trump’s firing of McCabe two days before he was to receive his pension has an “odious taint.”
I can’t decide whether to use that as my new name for Trump, or for my band.

k9bfriender:
You put this in the stupid republican idea thread, not the evil republican idea thread, but, since we apparently don’t have one of those.
It’s smart, really. Here’s money that can either be used to feed prisoners, or buy me a new boat. Can you really tell me that you’d rather feed prisoners than have the better part of a million dollars?
What is stupid is that this is allowed. If prisoners are too cushy in their diet, and it is decided to cut back o the expense of feeding them, then that money should stay in the taxpayer’s wallets (or go to roads or bridges or something). If you personally profit from reducing the quality of someone else’s life, then what are you going to do?
Southerners have a hard time giving up slavery; it’s in their blood. The prison system in the South (and I suppose elsewhere) is really just a dressed-up version of slavery. And slavery for slavery’s sake isn’t good enough - it’s gotta be profitable for the master running the plantation. And in Etowah, it apparently is. No surprise at all.
In his defense, if he could read, he wouldn’t be a Republican.

Put that broad brush away, beer boy. Etowah doesn’t represent all Southerners. The KKK has rallies north of the MD Line too.
Is this a SRIOTD or stupid gun news ?
Schools shouldn’t arm staff because they’re full of ‘lady teachers,’ Alabama lawmaker says
Alabama state Rep. Harry Shiver (R) asserted that belief, saying that guns should not be placed in the hands of “our ladies” — meaning female teachers — many of whom he believes are “scared” of firearms.
“I’m not saying all [women], but in most schools, women are [the majority] of the teachers,” Shiver, a lawmaker representing a district northeast of Mobile, told AL.com in an interview published Thursday.
“Some of them just don’t want to [be trained to possess firearms]. If they want to, then that’s good. But most of them don’t want to learn how to shoot like that and carry a gun.”
Shiver did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

His name is Shiver? Yeah. He sounds confident.
Actually, it’s Harry “Piss” Shiver.
Nah. She just shouldn’t have had a “Take Your Daughter to Work” Day

I suspect the NRA paid him to say that, so every woman in America, teacher or not, would immediately decide to buy a gun.
Apparently, the work of Congress now consists solely of getting re-elected.
“Is this all that Republicans will do all year? Are they kidding?”
It’s a measure of our low expectations of Congress that the working assumption around Capitol Hill is that the gigantic spending bill will be the “last chance to settle dozens of long-running policy fights.” You see, there won’t be more chances to pass legislation of any consequence. (The Hill reports that “because the spending bill is also the last major piece of legislation likely to pass before the midterms, lawmakers are scrambling to throw in other measures.”)
Wait. It’s only March. They cannot find the time between now and the November elections to put together an infrastructure bill? A fix for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program? Legislation to protect our electoral system from sabotage or to protect the special counsel from being fired? Apparently not. Their work will be done if they pass the spending bill, they are telling us.
…
I’m surprised they don’t just break for a seven-month spring-summer recess. Oh. Wait…
Ohio GOP Introduces Bill To Ban Abortion
Under a bill introduced Monday, HB 565, the state would prohibit abortions even in cases of rape, incest or danger to a woman’s life.
The proposal would allow criminal charges against both doctors and pregnant women seeking abortions and would characterize an “unborn human” as a person under Ohio’s criminal code regarding homicide. That means abortions could be punishable by life in prison or even the death penalty.
Ahhh, my tax dollars at work.
Let’s just keep stepping backwards. Next a bill to repeal women’s and black people’s right to vote. I’m pretty sure Jeff Sessions would be on board with that.
Republican Carl Nett, who is a former Secret Service member and CIA contractor, is running for Secretary of State of Kentucky. After Democratic Congressman bragged about his F rating from the NRA, Neff made a “joke” about using him for target practice.
Ah, threatening to kill political opponents.
He says it was a joke, and it probably was funny to him, but threatening to kill people is never a joke. That seems to be SOP these days though, say something threatening or otherwise heanius, and then backtrack calling it a joke.
OTOH, there are probably quite a number of republicans that would cheer if someone shot the congressman, so it’s not going to hurt Nett’s votes at all.
