While DeVos is slime and wholly unfit for her position as Secretary of Education, I agree with her. The Department of Education should not be studying firearms nor proposing firearm policy any further than “No Firearms on School Property”. Leahy is wrong; it is up to Congress to come up with policy, not a school safety commission. The school safety commission needs to plan on what to do when guns are introduced into the equation.
As for the commission’s purpose as written up by the WH, I take any-and-everything out of the WH with a grain of salt. The top tiers of the entire Executive Branch of our government don’t know their asses from their elbows…probably because they are all ass.
Hey, harassment, assault, and battery are important issues. You might conclude this from the fact we made laws against them. We even expect the police to enforce those laws, and investigate specific instances of the violations of those laws, as opposed to putting it all on the victims.
Of course, when the victims aren’t people, but children, we tend to call those activities “bullying” and suggest that the victims “work them out for themselves” and “learn to stand up for themselves” and so on.
Because being the victim of targeted harassment and psychological and physical abuse builds character, apparently.
Not that I expect DeVos to make any headway on these issues, mind you.
I have worked alongside people who worked extremely hard at their assignments and ended up doing them badly, while the people who were more casual in their efforts tended to produce good results.
And, really, the truth is the easiest, most straightforward thing – it takes hugely less effort than baking up some kind of bullshit and then trying to convince everyone about how good it smells.
Oh I don’t doubt Republicans will still vote for him - hell I doubt he even gets seriously primary’d at this point. OTOH if Democrats don’t get their shit together and show up to vote en masse for *whoever *this time around, I’m officially calling for nuking the US if only to save time.
New calendar event: Go to ocean and attempt to convince dolphins you’re one of them; prepare for inevitable dolphin takeover of humanity once polar caps melt.
The thing is, Melania has to know from first-hand experience just how credible her husband is; I mean, none of us live with him, but we know that nothing he says can be trusted. That’s like an actual fact of her daily life; we just deal with it from afar.
