Stupid Republican idea of the day

So, apparently the Republican line is that if you want to seek asylum, you should leave your underage children in the dangerous situation that you are trying to escape from?

#FamilyValues!

More like #BrownFamiliesDontMatter!

Ann Coulter calls crying immigrant children in detention centers ‘child actors’.

Ah yes, the go-to when your party does indefensible bullshit : deny reality altogether. Coming soon in a cognitively dissonant brain near YOU !

It’s the “what are the newest and most guaranteed bullshit phrases to piss people off?” time again. She could’ve called them “fake news accomplices” and gotten the same reaction. The queen of bullshit. Nothing new.

Paul Ryan the Ostrich. Keep in mind that he is second in line to the presidency.

Paul Ryan has been living in a cave

Did anybody remark on the irony of the fact that she said that on TV?

Never mind, dumb question.

Maybe she meant that he should be reading news instead of watching it.

Donald don’t read.

Mara Wilson (famous 90s child actress from Mrs. Doubtfire and Matilda) has a terrific Twitter feed. Her response:

A federal judge has overturned Kansas’ voter registration law, and has ordered Kris Kobach to take six hours of classes.

I’m surprised that “The Cowardly Ryan” hasn’t caught on as the go-to descriptor of the Speaker. Seems like a natural epithet for this extremely timid man.

Probably because being compared to Paul Ryan is an insult both to lions and to cowards.

I know I’ve said this before, but how fucking stupid do you need to be to be a Trumpista at this point? The official line is:

“It’s the Dems making us do this, even though such separations were rare prior to us announcing our new “zero tolerance” policy.
And they are probably fake families; you know that well-known practice of people loaning out their children, and children pretending to cry.”

Fuck me.

Also, on right-wing media the assertion is repeated that as long as you go to a port of entry this won’t happen. Is that correct? Because other outlets are saying even you go to the port this happens.

Felt my blood pressure getting a mite low, so checked a couple minutes of Hannity. Did you know that the FBI was a totally lefty/liberal organization? Anybody know exactly when that happened? Did we take over the Justice Dept first, or after?

Political relativity: whether one party is moving to the right or the other is moving to the left is indistinguishable save for from frame of reference*. The FBI became a lefty organization around the same time Robert Muller, Jeff Flake, John McCain, and the National Review becamse lefty organizations.

*Obviously this is bullshit but it’s the best working theory I have at the moment

I believe the deal is that if you go to the designated port of entry, you get told that there are no available slots for processing and get turned back. After a few days (or longer) of this you try to cross by another means, and then get arrested for illegal entry. I may be missing a few nuances there, and welcome correction if the above is not accurate.

Used to be the US had a right wing and a less-right wing, with a seminal point of reference due left circa the Enlightenment (negroes excepted, but watayagonnado). The rightmost wing went full Nazi, so obviously the original point of reference looks smaller to them now, as seen from a rapidly receding telescope. Political physics.

Get used to this: Medicare and Medicaid are going to start facing the budget axe, and there’s probably no way around it.

It’s impossible not to touch medicare because the interest on the debt is about to skyrocket over the next 3-5 years, thanks in no small part to tax “reform.”

What’s happening, and what’s going to happen to the extreme in the next decade, is that fewer and fewer people are going to control the money supply in this country. This is incompatible with democracy. When a few people are responsible for deciding how money circulates through an economy, it gives them enormous power. They can decide how money is spent in shaping the political system, first and foremost. But they also decide which laborers get money and how much, who gets food and housing and how much they pay for it. They can even decide how you move around your community, which roads you take and how you pay for that, too. It’s leverage. And we’re about to be facing a very serious existential crisis. Marx would have referred to this as the crisis of capitalism.

A spokesperson* from the WH Communications department was on PBS NewsHour last night defending their “not really a policy – it’s all the Democrats fault” policy, and she must have used the words “point of entry” 50 times in 2 minutes. So, yeah.

*Who was a hottie. Looks like Trump found Hope Hicks 2.0.

Great. I’m 64 this year.

Sorry folks, if/when I end up with some major medical event, I’ll try to die quietly, without any fuss or bother.
