I’m pretty sure Alabama’s immigration law was mentioned in this thread somewhere. Thisis awesome and I can’t stop laughing.
Way to go Alabama!
Yes. I can see how the cops might have suspected that Yada (Yada Yada) was in the country illegally, what with the international driver’s license, valid passport and US work visa. Fuck, what else did they want … a long form birth certificate?
Ya’ll can’t trust that passport! It’s red! Every American knows passports are blue…
I’ll give Brownback credit; he did back down after a bit.
** Mercedes executive Detlev Hager**: Alright, State Sen. Scott Beason…you win. But beware…we Germans aren’t all smiles und sunshine.
Yeah, but they are so cute when they try to talk tough. Granpa in the Wehrmacht is long dead, now they are bankers. Good. That whole “rule the world” thing was getting on our nerves.
Donald Trump tapped to moderate GOP debate (yes, really)
No need for the confirmation – you just can’t make stuff like this up.
No sense paying a journalist to be the moderator, the Republicans know who they really answer to. Cutting out the middleman is just good business.
With protesters occupying Wall Street, is this really the image they want to present; Donald Trump pulling the strings and the candidates jumping?
I wonder if Trump is getting paid. They may have found a way to do what they’ve been dreaming of for all these years, give money directly to a billionaire.
Did he throw his staff under the bus right at the get-go? Keep it classy, Brownie.
Yeah, it’s like Scandinavians. Great[sup]X[/sup]-grandpa was a Viking. His great-grandsons marched with Gustavus Adolphus. Now they’re all accountants. Not even scary accountants.
Nice uncredited allusion to Oscar Wilde, *Guardian *writer.
“To lose one parent may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness.”

Dude, I’m not being paranoid here, but I have been watching the Eurozone with amusement as Angela Merkel slowly but surely enforces Germany’s dominance over Europe. Once again, only Fortress England stands alone, as France falls beneath their sway…
But be of good cheer! The Crimson Permanent Assurance will set sail again to raid… Wait, that happened too, considering how the financial markets melted down.
I’m not sure if it’s ironic or just amusing, though.

Meh. Someone on his staff was the one who screwed up big time and he was the one who had to apologize, and he did so within 24 hours of this hitting the news. It was dumb all around, worst was her school principal, but I don’t hold this one against him.
There are a lot of other things to hold against him, I’ll grant that.
Like having a staff to monitor social networking sites for things that might hurt Brownies widdle, sensative feewings in the first place?

Not to hijack, but if you think there’s a single politician out there right now who doesn’t have staff monitoring Google, Twitter, Facebook and any other major social networks for namedrops, you’re way behind the curve.
What’s the suicide rate? Maybe I could handle that job, if the money were totally gross, such that I could afford to be lavishly medicated.
Maureen Dowd wrote a column suggesting that Newt Gingrich is no exception to the peculiar non-intellectuality which is the hallmark of today’s GOP candidates.
His mind is a jumble, an amateurish mess lacking impulse control. He plays air guitar with ideas, producing air ideas. He ejaculates concepts, notions and theories that are as inconsistent as his behavior.
… He expanded on Dickensian remarks he’d made recently at Harvard, where he said “it is tragic what we do in the poorest neighborhoods, entrapping children in child laws which are truly stupid,” adding that 9-year-olds could work as school janitors.

If there’s anything in the world that might make me look more kindly upon a clueless jagoff like Gingrich, it’s a Maureen Dowd column. I find her to be one of the most insufferably annoying of all the political pundits, and her writing isn’t anywhere near as witty and clever as she thinks it is.

The only thing more painful than reading Dowd is listening to her speak.
