I wouldn’t swear to it, but I read somewhere that Loomer did, in fact, bring keys to the handcuffs. She then, apparently, threw them grandiosely away sometime during the two hours. Funny as hell, if true.
Well, she said that she threw away the key.
Evidently, two hours is as long as it takes.
Are we sure she’s not some sort of guerrilla performance artist?
OK, technically there’s no party affiliation given, but I’m not inclined to be charitable and besides, I’d bet real money on the answer:
[
Uh huh.](Former candidate Gavin Clarkson forced to argue that NM is U.S. state ) Y’all are gonna love this one!
A guy from New Mexico is in Washington, DC with his fiancee; they go to apply for a marriage license:
After approaching the clerk for a license and showing his New Mexico ID, Clarkson said the clerk told him he needed an international passport to get the marriage license.
Clarkson said he protested to a supervisor, who also told him that he needed a foreign passport.
The clerk finally concluded New Mexico was a state after Clarkson objected three times. The clerk granted the license to Clarkson and his fiancée.
“She thought New Mexico was a foreign country,” Clarkson said of the clerk. “All the couples behind us waiting in line were laughing.”
No video, so it could be fake, right?
In a statement, the D.C. courts system acknowledged the staff error to the Sun-News.
“We understand that a clerk in our Marriage Bureau made a mistake regarding New Mexico’s 106-year history as a state,” Leah H. Gurowitz, spokeswoman for D.C. Courts, said in an email. “We very much regret the error and the slight delay it caused a New Mexico resident in applying for a D.C. marriage license.”

No one will take that bet.
I will.
I lived in NM for 7 yrs and I was on the receiving end of that conversation several times. Usually on the phone, once on the internet. . .
We don’t ship internationally.
There’s a New Mexico, now?
You speak good english for a foreigner.
Is it tomorrow or yesterday there? (this one really caught me off guard)
From men and women, from all over the map, and I’m confident political affiliation had nothing to do with it. It’s a sad commentary on our education system.

Tarrant County GOP in Texas attempting to remove surgeon (and city councilman) as vice-chairman of the county party.
Why? Well, he’s Muslim . That appears to be the only reason (although some later reports imply he is not sufficiently zealous in his support of Israel also).
Keeping making that tent bigger, guys.
I will note that the state GOP is trying to talk the locals out of this, but the county GOP is apparently having none of that.

New Mexico magazine (Or is it called New Mexico Highways?) runs a column about the idiocy of people who don’t know New Mexico is a state.
Despite Big House Losses, G.O.P. Shows No Signs of Course Correction
https://nyti.ms/2zBKcMm
WASHINGTON — With a brutal finality, the extent of the Republicans’ collapse in the House came into focus last week as more races slipped away from them and their losses neared 40 seats.
Yet nearly a month after the election, there has been little self-examination among Republicans about why a midterm that had seemed at least competitive became a rout.
President Trump has brushed aside questions about the loss of the chamber entirely, ridiculing losing incumbentsby name, while continuing to demand Congress fund a border wall despite his party losing many of their most diverse districts. Unlike their Democratic counterparts, Republicans swiftly elevated their existing slate of leaders with little debate, signaling a continuation of their existing political strategy.
…
The quandary, some Republicans acknowledge, is that the party’s leaders are constrained from fully grappling with the damage Mr. Trump inflicted with those voters, because he remains popular with the party’s core supporters and with the conservatives who will dominate the caucus even more in the next Congress.
…
He’s the albatross. But they can’t cut him loose. Good.
At last, the guerilla my dreams!

You know what? Fuck the Republicans. Fuck them for using my country as a fig leaf to cover their own bigotry. And that goes from the White House on down.

Well, then include the Federal German Republic in the 1950s. My mom moved out to New Mexico in the early 1950’s. Being from a family of immigrants one of her aunts from Germany was quite concerned about moving out of the US to this new foreign country she’d never heard of before.

At least with that one, you can hope they’re just quoting Homer Simpson.

Hesitant as I am to defend the GOP, I will point out that the county GOP chairman supports Dr. Shafi; it’s certain precinct chairs within the county who are attacking him. So, while there are plenty of bigots in Tarrant county opposing Dr. Shafi, the county and state leadership seem to recognize how bad this looks.

And they’re still gonna whine about how they represent Real America.
Actually I’d definitely take that bet. Someone working in the DC court is very likely to be a Democrat, and the misunderstanding about the status of New Mexico is surprisingly common . Ignorance crosses party lines, its just that the Dems usually don’t celebrate it and promote it to higher office.
I hope she mailed them some New Mexico green chiles. Blow their little German minds.
They should just change the name of that state to “Zia”.

Fair enough.
I wonder how the same geniuses do on New Jersey, New Hampshire, and New York. If they’re confused they’d assume UK locations for each, presumably.
