They just don’t give a shit. They’re creating their own reality, for themselves and for their legions of voters. They’re not selling prosperity; they’re selling victimization. Impeachment makes them and their voters victims - victims of a country stolen from them. They’re victims of liberals and foreigners who don’t value the ‘original’ America, and they have ‘taken over’ their country. Therefore, they are justified in re-taking it - any means necessary.

“Successfully” is not yet obvious. Swiftboating, in order to be effective, must be carried out upon the actual nominee, when the Party has committed itself and has no room to make adjustments. Biden is a long-range prospective nominee, to whom the Party has not yet fixed its support, so it is far too early to say that the strategy has succeeded.
