Stupid Republican idea of the day

God these people are stupid

I think I saw somewhere that Van Drew was maybe going to wait until after the impeachment vote. Thus, he would vote to NOT impeach while still a Democrat (bi-partisan!) then switch to R after that.

Hey, remember that Stupid Republican Idea of 2017, The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act? The one that lowered the statutory corporate tax rate to 21%? The key word there is statutory, cuz the effective federal tax rates for many companies in 2018 came in just a *bit *lower than that. For 91 of the Fortune 500, the effective tax rate was… let’s roll the tote! … zero percent! Amazon, Starbucks, Chevron, IBM, Halliburton (natch) and 86 other companies … all paid zero dollars in federal income tax. Because fuck you, that’s why!

No, that is incorrect. The article says,
… The following companies had effective rates of 0% or less, according to the report …

We are paying some or many of them to not pay taxes.

Look at that. A welfare program Republicans like.

He should be haunted by the Specter of the last guy who tried to avoid getting primaried by jumping parties.

Three ghosts on Christmas eve…

But…but…but… below living wage job creation!

See, your problem is you’re lacking in Christmas spirit and good cheer. Some companies had negative tax rates. Meaning y’all paid them (well, their execs, realistically) for the privilege of existing. Activision/Blizzard for example *earned *228 million dollars in tax this year. Ho ho ho !

I don’t think they needed to do an analysis. There are some very simple criteria, e.g. permanence of residence, that correlate very strongly with party. Students, in particular, are likely D voters who can be targeted in this and several other ways.

And of course, note that voters who have moved are unlikely to drive across their state, or whatever, to vote illegally. This kind of voter fraud doesn’t exist.

As another example, recall the Suppression Program which looked for false duplicates. (A “John B. Brown” is registered in another state? Strike him from the rolls!) These fake duplicates are obviously easiest with common surnames. Here are the 20 commonest surnames according to U.S. census, along with a major racial component:
#1 Smith 22% Black
#2 Johnson 34% Black
#3 Williams 47% Black
#4 Brown 35% Black
#5 Jones 38% Black
#6 Miller 86% White
#7 Davis 31% Black
#8 Garcia 91% Hispanic
#9 Rodriguez 93% Hispanic
#10 Wilson 25% Black
#11 Martinez 92% Hispanic
#12 Anderson 18% Black
#13 Taylor 28% Black
#14 Thomas 38% Black
#15 Hernandez 94% Hispanic
#16 Moore 27% Black
#17 Martin 77% White
#18 Jackson 53% Black
#19 Thompson 23% Black
#20 White 27% Black

Only the #6 and #17 most common surnames come close to the GOP’s preferred ethnicity. That’s why the GOP loves spurious name matching.

Finally, what happens when a R-looking voter shows up at an R-controlled precinct to vote and finds he’s been removed from the roll? “No problem, Jimmy Bob. The state of North Calinkey hain’t got no problem with a good-ol-boy like you voting!”
Did someone mention Chuck Todd? Isn’t he the go-to example of how [checks forum] utterly stupid some of today’s newscasters are? Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather — where are you guys when we need you?

You loved Donald Trump unironically getting photoshopped as Thanos, get ready for Meghan McCain’s “spiteful mass murder as conservatism” take, a.k.a. before you try and do pop culture references, acquaint yourself with pop culture.
I’m crisping it !

Lou Dobbs guest compares Individual 1’s letter to Pelosi to the Gettysburg Address.

I feel like we need an update to Godwin’s Law. Like, if you ever commit to any pop-history reference whatsoever, you’ve lost your shit unless you’ve drawn a bona fide parallel.

I alone decide the bona, and the fide. That seems only fair.

The subhead to that article is very apropos: *“It’s times like these that you remember these people don’t actually give a shit about anything. It’s a political movement based on low-quality trolling.”
*

OK. I know that most/ all of the banana Republican talking points trying to defend Trump against impeachment are stupid and complete bullshit. They almost have to be when you’re trying to defend the indefensible, but this one really has me scratching my head.

Rep. Tom Cole, R-Oka said in his closing arguments that impeachment is a “flawed process” that has gone on “at the expense of minority rights.”

Huh!?!? Minority rights? How the hell did he come up with that?

Republican is the new Negro, also, Orange is the new Black.

CMC fnord!

You are bad and should feel bad.

How can you not understand ? Democrats are the Real Racists. For example, they did slavery. That was all on them, because Lincoln was a Republican (even though back in the day it meant something else) so there you go). For another, they support things like affirmative action or university hiring quotas, which are Real Racism against white people. But Donald Trump is all ABOUT white people, so he’s not racist. In fact, he’s the exact opposite of a racist. Which the democrats are.
Which is why they want to impeach him, because they’re racists. So impeaching him is a blow against minorities because it’s racist, and racism is against minorities.

I assume that clears it all up for you.
