Stupid Republican idea of the day

Nobody expects the Amercian Inquisition!

New Romney campaign strategy: secret press conferences!

Yeah, that’s the ticket! The deep cover candidate. Next step, leave the press behind altogether.

[QUOTE=Fear Itself’s Link]
Romney’s staff, fearful, they said, of being blocked by the administration from holding an event here, kept the location of today’s press conference secret, even from the press who cover the candidate.

Just how fucking paranoid are they? Don’t they know that the Obama administration wants everybody to forget about Solyndra and that isn’t done by making a fuss? And that many of the people who paid any attention to the scandal realized there was no there there and the people who didn’t pay any attention didn’t care then and don’t care now?

If you have a press conference without the press, is it just called a conference?

Bloomberg’s plans to outlaw large sodas in NYC is pretty stupid, no matter what party he’s in (ETA or not in). But what’s even stupider is the comments (moreso than usual!) I guess some of them must have once worked for Fox since they clearly see through the failed policies of Bloomberg (D)

Let’s hurl some acid at those female Democratic Senators.

And they’re afraid of sharia?

What is this I don’t even

Ah the age old question. If a press conference falls, and no one is around to report it, does it make a soundbite?

Actually, Bloomberg is currently an independent, after switching from Democrat to Republican in 2001. Cite.

But regardless of his party, it’s a stupid idea.

Whoosh.

Oops! I didn’t read the comments. :smack:

 The whoosh has zero to do with any comments.

If you are unfamiliar with some of the practices of Fox News, they have a habit of identifying any disgraced (R) with a (D).

Double :smack:

This is what I get for paying more attention to my work than to the SDMB.

Can’t speak for the poster, but if you look at the comments (not something I ordinarily suggest) many commenters are blaming this on Democrats and liberals. Actually, for sanity’s sake, don’t go reading comments–just trust me.

Exactly, I should have known better than to read the comments and not only is this a stupid idea, but the comments manage to be even stupider and go the Fox path of baldfacedly blaming the liberals for something a Republican [or in this case a non-liberal] did. And now you all get the same “pleasure” from news comments as I did!

I’m sure this has been posted before but I just found out that you know who admitted to having a “concentration camp” in his county. Do you know who e…wait, fuck that. He really said h…what the fuck…fucking fuck? Bwa? Mwa da da? What is this I :frowning:

Summary?

Joe Arpaio was at a rally* and someone asked him how to crack down on serial border-runners by maybe establishing a “concentration camp” of some sort rather than deporting them so they can come back in and “kill us”, and good ol Joe just ran with it. He said “We already do have a concentration camp. It’s called Tent City.”

*see what I did there?

He was a proud host of the 2004 GOP Convention.

He also ran on the Republican line in his most recent election. He may call himself an independent, but he’s a REPUBLICAN.

Stupid and impractical idea. Will never fly. Probably won’t even come up for a vote in the city council.

I wish there were some way to force that asshole to watch the devastating documentary Saving Face and then be confronted by all those poor women who had acid thrown in their faces.
