Check out this video of Neal Boortz at the convention.
In short, he argues that public schools (aka “government schools” cue scary music ) are bad, y’all. How bad? So bad that they enabled someone like Barack Obama to grow up and then become president of the United States.
Maybe it’s the fact that I went to a government school that is causing me to be confused by his argument. But doesn’t it, like, reflect positively on public schools that they were able to produce a US president?
Apparently you didn’t hear the dog whistle. It is loud and clear to the racists what he meant, that public schools are what allowed someone like him, a BLACK MAN to become president.

I heard it but I wanted it to be something else.
If there’s film, then she gave consent.

What is the proper response when a Puerto Rican with a thick accent speaks at your convention? Chant “USA! USA! USA!” over her. To show how not racist you are. And because Puerto Rico is some foreign land not in the US. And because you are a bunch of yahoos and asshats.

Oh dear God I read the comments on the DC page. Why didn’t you stop me from reading the comments?!? My eyes, my poor poor eyes…
Robot_Arm:
Well, what’s so great about being president, anyway. Today’s kids should aspire to, and schools should be preparing them for, positions as true national heroes, like hedge fund managers.
And reality TV stars.

Bow ties are cool.
So are fezzes.
Heh. I’m trying to picture Barack Hussein Obama wearing a fez.

In a twofer - Two RNC attendees removed for taunting black camerawoman . I’ll give credit to the RNC for removing the yahoos, but it is a commentary on the type of people the party is attracting these days.

Linky no work, but try this one .
A man has been ejected from the Republican National Convention after throwing peanuts at a black camerawoman and shouting ‘this is how we feed animals.’
Republicans fear the alleged racist incident, which took place at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Florida yesterday afternoon, will further dent the party’s support among African Americans ahead of the presidential election.
At least one poll has shown the Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has less than one per cent support among black voters.
So…not really much support there to “further erode”, I guess.
BTW, some stories say it was one guy, others say two.

According to FoxNews :
The USA! USA! USA! chants that echoed throughout the convention floor as Puerto Rican Committeewoman Zoraida Fonalledas was on stage Monday were a result of Ron Paul supporters protesting the “Credentials Report” and had nothing to do with Puerto Rico, a Republican National Committee spokesperson told us.
The convention floor was chaotic at around 4 p.m. when Fonalledas came out onto the stage, and the chants caused for a bit of an awkward moment.
The official statement is below.
“During today’s Republican Convention Committee Reports, the Ron Paul followers exercised their right to free speech and protested the report by the Committee on Credentials. The Report by the Chairwoman of the Permanent Organization Committee followed. The protesters continued their boisterous protest of the Credentials Report which spilled over to the rest of the proceedings. To be clear, the attempt to disrupt the proceedings had to do with the report, not the Puerto Rico National Committeewoman. Puerto Rico and its delegation play a very important role in this Convention, and are an integral partner in the National Committee.”
Determination of the credibility of this statement is left as an exercise for the reader.

Perhaps the RON PAUL!ers where going for a two-fer. Showing the disdain they have for the rules change AND Ron Paul’s disdain for non-Americans all with one chant.
That’s the type of American efficiency we need in the White House!
Ok, maybe Romney is more attuned to the needs of the nation, the one in the Cayman Islands that is.

Gov. Mitt Romney’s campaign toasted its top donors Wednesday aboard a 150-foot yacht flying the flag of the Cayman Islands.
The floating party, hosted by a Florida developer on his yacht “Cracker Bay,” was one of a dozen exclusive events meant to nurture those who have raised more than $1 million for Romney’s bid.
“I think it’s ironic they do this aboard a yacht that doesn’t even pay its taxes,” said a woman who lives aboard a much smaller boat moored at the St. Petersburg Municipal Marina.
Romney’s Cayman-based investments have come under fire during the campaign.
Two stupid ideas for the price of one, by having a fund raiser in a yacht with that flag, and with that name.
When a Republican lies so blatantly that even Fox News calls him on it , he’s pushing it a bit too far.
…to anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to facts, Ryan’s speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech. On this measure, while it was Romney who ran the Olympics, Ryan earned the gold.
The good news is that the Romney-Ryan campaign has likely created dozens of new jobs among the legions of additional fact checkers that media outlets are rushing to hire to sift through the mountain of cow dung that flowed from Ryan’s mouth. Said fact checkers have already condemned certain arguments that Ryan still irresponsibly repeated…

I’m laughing at the juxtaposition at the bottom of that article with the link to the next story:
Their plan ran into a snag though when one of their member, Michael Roark, allegedly had second thoughts.
Aguigui is accused of “silencing” Roark and his 17-year-old girlfriend, Tiffany York, in a messy execution in the woods—leading to the eventual indictment of him and his “gang.”

If you think that execution plan was messy…
On NPR this morning, I heard a Republican strategist outlining all the mistruths in Ryan’s speech and it took me aback. He even started out saying “I hate to help out the Democrats, but…”.
