Stupid Republican idea of the day

It’s definitely been Photoshopped, IMO. Aisles were lined up to make them appear to exist and the support structure is overlaying the crowd, instead of being able to see crowd “thru” it. At first I didn’t think it was 'shopped; I just thought it was a bad panorama thing, like NineLineMan.

However, I know where that is; I live right down the road from it. That’s Henderson Pavillion, right here in Henderson, NV. It’s got 2,444 fixed seats and room for maybe another 1,500 on the grass above the roofed area, as the website notes.

Not sure how many people Romney claimed came to see him there, but the picture as published is definitely misleading.

This site has non-jobbed pictures starting with the 4th one down the page. The 9th one down shows that the grass is somewhat less packed than the first couple seem to indicate.

My stupid Republican thing of the day is that John Sununu hasn’t sued someone to take this site down. Why? Feast your eyes:

No one can stay relevant with a bio like that. NO ONE!

mwahahahahahahahaaaaa…

Once again, a Republican accepts a party line without questioning it:

Sununu has obviously accepted Zamfir as the acknowledged “Master of the Pan Flute”.
But has ANYone from the Right asked themselves "How much competition was there?"

Wait, I thought the GOP position was that women’s magical vagina powers stop rape babies?

If women’s bodies can “shut down” unwanted pregnancies, what’s all the fuss about abortion, anyway? Huh, guys?

None of the pictures show up for me. So I started reading the comments. Then I started to develop a deep loathing for all humanity.

I had a closer look. I’m right.

“doctored” photo
Highlighted seams - all vertical.
Highlighted cloned areas
Photo with cloned areas removed.

That is not the work of a professional photographer, that’s a staffer not using a compact camera properly. The inaccurate result doesn’t even look much more impressive than the accurate one.

Although now I’m a bit angry at the site posted by MOIDALIZE. This picture of claimed alterations is hogwash, but I’ll put that down as incompetent with a dash of seeing-what-you-want-to-see.

Missed the edit window…

Here are the four images combined to make it easier to compare.

Okay, now that I’ve seen your pics there, including the composite, I’ll grant that it sure seems more like shitty photography than Photoshop.

The point stands, I think, that the photo as published was misleading.

What? You didn’t like that last picture? The one of the kid with the Mark of the Beast on his forehead? :stuck_out_tongue: Let’s go to the quarry and throw stuff down there!

John Scalzi weighs in on the whole rape thingie with a fan letter from a rapist to his pals in the GOP.

Well, yeah, but “campaign doesn’t bother to pay professional photographer despite allegedly huge event” is less stupid than “campaign can’t photoshop for shit”.

Wow. Thank you for sharing this.

I wonder if the men who most need to read this… nah.

Sorry, that one doesn’t quite have the Odor of Truth to it, not to me anyway.

Just in case others missed it, John Scalzi says in the first comment that the letter is fictional.

[QUOTE=John Scalzi]
For those of you who didn’t figure it out earlier, this is satire. However, just because it is satire, does not mean it’s intended to be funny.

That was excellent. I hope the whole country reads it. Thanks for linking it.

Seriously, what’s with the recent epidemic of bizarre rape-related comments by Repub guys? Are they all infecting one another?

Check out The Daily Show’s “surprisingly recurring” new segment: Republican Candidate Said What About Rape Now?

I gather it’s perceived as a way of condemning abortion that carries fewer risks than just saying “we should ban abortion.”
