Stupid Republican idea of the day

It really does again bring up the question: Is Fox News an arm of the GOP, or is the GOP an arm of Fox News? It seems like the spun-sugar bubble that Fox News and talk radio are spinning for the right is seriously crippling the Republican party’s ability to react to events with anything resembling an acquaintance with reality.

Or, they thought the fix was in, until it dawned on them that it wasn’t.

I was wondering about that too, and especially Karl Rove’s reaction on Ohio. Did he want them to wait to declare it because he thought the Democratic counties would provide a Romney boost via “adjusted” results or was he just in denial? No way to tell, and I don’t feel like making a tinfoil hat at the moment.

It will be some time before I can see one of the usual right-wing-pundit suspects on TV without visualizing them on Wednesday morning in their own personal version of Stephen Colbert’s performance at the beginning of Wednesday’s Report.

I daresay they will be having a few frank and robust exchanges of views with Karl, considering that he was the bagman/manager for so much of it.

This account from the floor on Election Night encapsulates the mindset:

Uhh… maybe if you guys would watch something besides Fox News, you could get back in touch with reality and not crash and burn like this next time.

On election night, I was struck by how many Fox reporters and commentators referred to the Romney campaign and Republicans as “we”.

And the other night, Jon Stewart referred to Fox News as BMN. In my house, that name is sticking.

Don’t you dare! :stuck_out_tongue:

Florida Gov. Rick Scott still refusing to obey the PPACA: Florida Gov. Rick Scott says no to health care law

Reminds me of another Republican, who chose to believe cherry-picked intelligence to start a war.

I have Neil Young singing in my head now…“Oh, to live on/Bullshit Mountain…”

It makes no difference in Florida. If states opt out of creating their own exchanges, the federal government will create exchanges in their state, and Obamacare goes on as planned. They lose federal Medicaid money though, so they will have to explain that to the voters.

Yeah, Missouri passed an initiative on Tuesday to prevent the Governor from unilaterally moving ahead with an exchange. Meaning the ‘small government’ people are turning decision making over to Washington.

In other Stupid Republican ideas:

Yes, let’s all just randomly test for voter fraud, by trying to vote fraudulently. I don’t see how this could possibly fail!

Let’s all test the system!

I know. My wife is a PPACA exchange implementation consultant.

Unfortunately, we live in Florida, so that federal money we won’t get is coming out of our pockets to fund the governor’s windmill-tilting.

Nooo. The tax returns issue, handled about as badly as it’s possible to handle such things, destroyed any potential for that image.

Fresh off his failed attempts to rig Ohio for Romney, John Husted is already trying to rig the 2016 election by proposing a new electoral scheme that would give most of Ohio’s electoral votes to the Republican regardless of who wins the state.

It could very well have been handled worse, like telling the truth. Now, to be ruthlessly fair, I don’t know the truth about Romney’s tax returns, but I know enough to be fairly and reasonably suspicious. Sometimes fair and reasonable suspicion falls upon the innocent. There is a remedy for that misfortune. I am terrifically fond of sunshine, both as an environment and as an antiseptic.

And, truth be known, he more or less got away with it.

They usually do.

OK, this is a winner. As you may have heard, David Petreus has resigned as director CIA in the face of a scandal about extramarital hanky panky.

Or was it? He resigns just before he is supposed to testify about Benghazigoat?
