Stupid Republican idea of the day

Holy shit! Rick Scott is an Observer here to enslave the human race!

I take it that this is in reference to the OP. Just so you know in the last 166 pages the thread has moved a bit further afield. Regulating the first lady was a stupid idea but it wasn’t 8,253 posts worth of stupid.

1,394 days since the OP. 8,257 posts. They are way, way ahead of us.

I’d never seen him before so I’ll look him up.

Jesus Christ! I thought Charlie Crist was supposed to be the gay one!

Rick Scottis looking more and more like Trashcan Man without the sunburn.

Leave the guy alone. He was a heroic firefighter back in the 90s.

Perhaps this belongs in the Gun Nuts say the Stupidest Things thread but

[QUOTE=Larry Ward, Gun Appreciation Day chairman]
… insisted there’s no hypocrisy in having Gun Appreciation Day roughly coincide with Martin Luther King Day, despite King being our most famous non-violence advocate and having been killed with a gun. Ward said that the day “honors the legacy of Dr. King,” because if African slaves had been armed, they would have been able to prevent slavery from ever happening in the first place.

Are guns magical fetishes to these people?

According to Rush Limbaugh, the civil rights movement would have gone a lot more smoothly if King, John Lewis, etc. had had guns.

Because left-wing blacks shooting white policemen would have gone over great, apparently.

According to this article from Truthout.com (a progressive Web site I was not familiar with before seeing this link), a reason, or perhaps *the *reason, the Second Amendment was added to the Constitution was to allow the Southern states to create slave patrols that would capture escaped slaves. If true (I haven’t personally checked the author’s sources), it puts a whole new light on the Second Amendment that the NRA might not be happy to acknowledge.

Considering the California Assembly’s (and Governor Reagan’s) reaction to the Black Panthers exercising their 2nd Amendment rights*, I have to question that. I mean, I KNOW…how can we question Rush Limbaugh? But still…

*That would be the rapid passing and signing of the Mulford Act.

With the full backing and approval of the NRA, let it be noted.

Yes, effecting legal and social change through weaponry usually goes well. Except when we call it terrorism. Then it doesn’t go so well.

LOL, Rush and his pals got the vapors when a couple of black guys with billy clubs were spotted in Philly. I’d hate to be his underwear if the Million Man March was armed with AR-15s.

Edit: on second thought, I can conceive of no circumstances where I’d enjoy being his underwear.

The Derplahomans are unhappy he used the Lincoln Bible. His hand didn’t even catch fire, people!

I think they just believe that throughout history, if the other side of a struggle had the 2nd Amendment, everything would have turned out differently.

Imagine, what if Ghandi was armed? India would never have fallen to the British!

What if serfs had been armed against their lords? Feudalism would be stopped before it happened!

If Jesus had a gun, the Romans couldn’t have killed him!

If Neanderthals had guns, they never would have died out.

If Adam and Eve had guns, they could have just shot the serpent and we still would all be in the Garden of Eden.

Gandhi.

Wow. And these are the people who are lining up at Wal-Mart to buy more guns.

That’s OK, I doubt he would have been in time to keep the British out of India anyway.

If only the South had had guns, it could have stopped Sherman!

Oh, wait…
