Stupid Republican idea of the day

Wikipedia will now be peppered with updates for the next week from conservatives correcting Orwell’s biography…

(On Conservapedia the entry will already be correct, under Huxley.)

Crap. I’m one of the people at my school responsible for adapting curriculum to meet Common Core standards.

What’s that stuff I’m supposed to include again?

Anti-Christian? Check.
Anti-Capitalism? Check.
Pro-Homosexuality? Check.
Pro-Union? Check.
Pro-Social Justice? What? How did Social Justice make this list?

Back to the drawing board.

Of course. They have thin straight Christian white guys, and fat straight Christian white guys.

Closeted gay white Christian guys don’t count as straight, sorry.

Breaking news - Georgia Representative has epiphany after only 8 years in office: Sometimes Americans don’t agree with other Americans on various issues - even if they’re in the same party and everything!

Tom Price is lying like a rug. He is my representative. I have let him know my opinion on various issues. He is not listening.

Fun fact. Wells came up with the title 1984 by reversing the date 1948, the year he wrote it. But 1984 wasn’t actually published until 1949 so a last minute change could indeed have made the title 1994.

But it wasn’t.

Stella Tremblay, New Hampshire Legislator, Says Woodrow Wilson Agreed With Hitler

[QUOTE=Stella Tremblay]
“Woodrow Wilson, because he was a sympathizer and he believed in the Aryan race, he believed that Hitler was correct in the races, where our Founding Fathers believed that all men were created equal," she said. "He went through all the educational material and wiped out all the – all anything that he could about the true history, about how the slaves were a really good integral part.”

Wilson left office in 1921 and died in 1924. Hitler was largely unknown internationally during Wilson’s lifetime.

Plus, there’s her adviser spouting some nicely wacky conspiracy theory stuff, which is the apparent source of what she’s been saying::

Wait, so titles of nobility aren’t un-Constitutional! Cool! I got dibs on The Duke of URL.

Hah!

At least Stella is confined to New Hampshire, though I can’t believe she got people to vote for her in New Hampshire. What a total loon. I thought they were full of smarts and stuff over there.

I guess that some people there just have less of the smarts, and more of the stuff.

Funner fact: Wells never wrote 1984 AT ALL!

Not until you make it with a red headed GURL.

I find this outrageous! Now I have to rewrite next week’s lessons.

Please, no more SQLs.

178 posts? We really need to start a new one at least once a year, maybe once a month. Maybe the first post in the thread should have a synposis of the most notable ongoing acts of stupidity and we can work from there.

Everything in this thread has been the kind of crap that has been turning me off the Republican Party for the last few years. I’ve been a lifelong Republican, but the nonsense this election season finally made me vote Democrat for the first time. I really would prefer the party concentrate on fiscal responsibility (which is why I would prefer to be a Republican if possible) but they keep dragging up social issues that should be settled, near settled, or on the back burner in favor of economic issues.

Time to reset the Days Without A GOP Rape Falsehood counter:

Can someone explain to me why these right wingers keep trying to downplay rape or pregnancy from rape? Why can’t they just be against abortion period instead of trying to make excuses for not allowing any exceptions? It shouldn’t be that hard if it’s what you truly believe. As it is, it makes them look like they just want any reason to espouse Victorian attitudes about women.*
*yes, I know that’s what it truly ends up being about
