I guess the other day Obama had a Rose Garden speech or press conference or something, with some people who had signed up for healthcare under the ACA up on the podium with him. One of those people got a bit light-headed, and Obama steadied her, and made a little joke as she was escorted out to get medical attention. In the wingnutosphere, this was obviously a staged event, because that totally makes sense. OK, so maybe it’s like shooting fish in a barrel to pick on conspiracy theories floating around WND and Infowars, but it got picked up by Drudge as well. And Sarah Palin had to chime in to say she totally understands where these people are coming from:

The right likes to throw around the “anti-American” cudgel on anyone who isn’t militaristic enough for their liking. The left likes to appropriate it too, especially when they think the right is trampling on what they consider bedrock social values and all that. It’s fundamentally an authoritarian slur, to make your target seem to be the Other. But damned if it doesn’t apply here.
