Sounds like an idea that came out of the ALEC fever swamp. If it starts popping up in other states, we’ll know for sure.
Wow. It’s like there’s an elite group of pranksters who just wanted to see how stupid they could make the laws until the party finally realized it was all a joke, and no matter how obviously stupid they make the laws, the party keeps accepting them.
The Pearly Gates are like any other gates: A bit of cash moves you to the head of the line.
I read about one born again Christian who was accumulating as much money as she could because when she got to heaven, she didn’t want God to think she’d done nothing with her life. More than a few evangelicals think money is the yardstick that God uses to determine the worth of your existence, never mind what the bible says about it.
No, no, see, the Bible says love of money is the root of all evil. By accumulating it themselves they’re trying to decrease the amount of evil in the world, straight at the source. And you *dare *snark at these altruistic saints.
As I understand it, it’s God’s reward to the faithful.
Prosperity Theology.
You’re not getting the context here. Since everyone “left behind” after the Rapture will be, by definition, a reject, it’s the bounden duty of the righteous to leave them as much of an ecological wasteland as possible. Increases their tribulations, dont’cha see.
(In other words, off-the-charts deranged.)

And to tie in with their Rape Persona, we have Ann Coulter’s “God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees. God said, ‘Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It’s yours.”
“I know that’s why God got Rafael’s son elected — Ted Cruz, the next Senator,” said Huch, pastor of the New Beginnings megachurch, introducing Rafael Cruz’s speech.
“Kings who are anointed for a totally different reason than priests,” Rafael Cruz continued. “Kings who are anointed to take dominion. Kings who are anointed to go to war, win the war, and bring the spoils of war to the priests.”
Beyond being stupid, that is also creepy as all hell and nuttier than squirrel shit.
Therefore, won’t hurt Cruz politically at all…
Currently, Texas Republicans are out-teabagging each other as part of Primary Season…
You know, when this thread first started, I thought it was over-reaching. I thought, “The Republicans will never be able to come up with something batshit insane stupid each and every day!”
I was so wrong …

Sen. Lindsey Graham is threatening to hold up all nominations for federal government positions until survivors of last year’s deadly attack on the diplomatic post in Libya appear before Congress.
The South Carolina Republican made the threat Monday on his official Twitter account.

And if that doesn’t get him the damning testimony he wants, he’ll hold up all nominations until every resident of Benghazi testifies, presumably.
Cruz has forced him out of the spotlight lately, so this is a way to try to get it back. Shrug.

It won’t stop until the RW/Tea Party wing either dies out or goes third-party, leaving a GOP that will remain evil but not necessarily stupid.
It seems that many Republicans have now figured out that some of their most visible ideas of the past decade are stupid.
[BUSINESS, GOP ESTABLISHMENT: TEA PARTY IS OVER
A slice of corporate America thinks tea partyers have overstayed their welcome in Washington and should be shown the door in next year’s congressional elections.
In Michigan, longtime businessmen Brian Ellis and David Trott are challenging hardline conservative Reps. Justin Amash and Kerry Bentivolio in Republican primaries. This comes after three years of frustration over GOP insurgents roughing up the business community’s agenda.

[A YEAR AFTER ROMNEY LOSS, GOP WOES RUN EVEN DEEPER
Fagen acknowledged newfound tensions between business-oriented Republicans and pro-tea-party Republicans, many of whom refused to raise the debt limit unless Democrats agreed to politically unattainable demands. At risk in the impasse was a government default that would have hammered the economy.
Yet it will be hard to close the rift between the two factions, Fagen said. “I don’t think they communicate.”
To John Ullyot, former Senate aide to moderate Republicans, “the big takeaway from this last battle was the true separation of the pro-business, establishment Republicans, and what they see as the rebels who are driving the party over the cliff.”
Many GOP donors, Ullyot said, “are starting to hold off on any contributions for the time being, until the party figures out how to deal with these upstart Republicans.”
I love that now that their profits are threatened, many are saying “Gee, maybe it wasn’t a good idea to fan the flames of discontent towards the teat that we suckle from.”
Idiots. I hope they get what they deserve.
It will be interesting to see if the money can push out the nutters.
Well, the money is what pushed the nutters in there in the first place.
