Stupid Republican idea of the day

“Hysterical” in messageboardspeak generally just means “you used a four-letter word in your post and you have a username indicating feminine gender”. It usually has no bearing on the actual content or tone of the post in question.

Don’t forget to mention my hysteria and bias some more. That was the part that really made you appear smart.

I think he was advocating for voting for anything that will save his own worthless political ass. Up to and including slavery. And probably beyond.

Yeah, I pretty much have that impression right now.

Babyeater, quit trying to flirt. It was very clear that jsgoddess meant merely that no decent person would even hypothetically agree to SUPPORT reinstituting slavery. Not that no decent person would even mention slavery in any context without vehemently condemning it.

Your feigned cluelessness about the obvious difference between these two positions is getting tiresome. If you really want to keep on trying to charm jsgoddess with your saucy negging, pick a different topic.

Your post was the textual equivalent of someone ranting while waving their arms, and yes, it did include two "fuck"s and a couple of dismissive "golly"s. So yeah, IMO you were nearly hysterical. Granted, it was the online version, but still, if the foo shits, wear it.

And you’ve confirmed that the subject of slavery is so distasteful to you that any use of it that doesn’t include a declaration of how evil it is makes you unable to react in any way other than with revulsion.

That’s bias.

Instead of simply agreeing with me that what the Assembleyman said was a poor analogy, you seek to make him into a slaver, even tho all available evidence that isn’t filtered through your bias doesn’t support that perception.

And now you’ve resorted to deriding my character because I’m pointing out your poor reaction to his poor analogy.

/shrug

Well, I guess it’s the fact that she (and now you) are both saying that there’s no way this Assembleyman can be a decent person.

I say he made a mistake, and I withhold judgement on his character as a whole.

jsgoddess and now you have already damned him to hell.

Can I calmly comment that you sound stupid, BB? Just a casual observation offered in passing.

I think he needs to take a lesson from Burke. See post #11511.

Yeah the Repubs are really in a quandary as to what position to take here. On the one hand the like the idea of jack booted thugs trampling civil liberties in the name of security, on the other hand they hate Obama, and the NSA thing is a good way to attack him. The good thing is that we might actually get some decent civil rights legislation out of this.

Its almost like the reverse psychology that jsgoddes suggested in post 11485.

Since he’s a lame duck anyway, perhaps we should encourage further Republican style abuses of power in the Obama administration so we can tie up some more loose ends. Any chance he can be caught gutting the EPA so we can get some stronger environmental regulations?

I guess the question is if instead of asking about slavery blogger Chuck Muth had used the example of legislation confiscating all firearms.

Would Wheeler would still have responded affirmatively?

Wouldn’t work. Here’s how it would go:

Obama: You know, I think we should lower taxes on the 1%.
Republicans: Socialist! You don’t want to lower their taxes enough!
Obama: I was thinking of chopping their taxes in half.
Republicans: See? Not enough!
Obama: You know what? Let’s drop their burden to 0. Sound good?
Republicans: 0? We should be giving them money for all the jobs they create!
Koch Bros.: ROFL

You’re coming off like an asshole rushing to the defense of someone who said he could be convinced to set his principles aside to vote for slavery if enough of his constituents proved to be disgusting racists.

I mean, what the fuck?

Good day, sir!

Rand Paul is going to Virginia to urge Libertarians to vote for Ken Cucinelli.

Because, you know, liberty.

There go my people. I must find out where they are headed, so I can lead them.

Rand Paul is about as Libertarian in fact as this pimple on my left butt cheek.

As opposed to the one on your right cheek?

Marco Rubio (R-FL) seems to have been inspired by Ted Cruz’ minibuster of his own bill. Rubio is not only blocking his own immigration bill but holding up his own judicial nominee.

That assemblyman is a nitwit. What he seemed to be saying is that he will do whatever his constituents want, no matter how bad and even if the guy thinks it’s not the right thing for that area. It’s likely he wasn’t thinking through the ramifications of that stand, but it’s an absurd stand and the slavery question showed that (and he ran right into it and screwed it up by standing by his position).

Geesh. A Republican finally floats an idea for a jobs program and all the Dems want to do is tear him down for it…
