Stupid Republican idea of the day

As Jon Stewart will inevitably point out, if he reports on this, the same thing is true for slavery – something else Republicans seem to be continually caught looking back wistfully on these days.

“You look at bloodletting, and dueling as well, this isn’t something new. It wasn’t invented in Kentucky for example. I mean the founding fathers were all, many of them, very actively involved in this and always have been. These things are part of a tradition and a heritage that go back for hundreds of years and were very integral early on in this country.”

…powdered wigs, illiteracy, syphilis…

“You look at sodomy and gomorrahmy as well, this isn’t something new. It wasn’t invented in Kentucky for example. I mean the founding fathers were all, many of them, very actively involved in this and always have been. These things are part of a tradition and a heritage that go back for hundreds of years and were very integral early on in this country.”

Are things bad if they are invented in Kentucky?

(Actually, that would explain my former in-laws.)

Mitch McConnell: It isn’t my job to bring jobs to Kentucky.

Colbert did (though in connection with a Louisiana pol, not Kentucky – where, I should hope, they know that chickens are for frying!)

I am confused. Is it the republicans stance that it is a government responsibility to generate jobs ( McConnell being part of the government right?) Or is it their stance the government does nothing , or should do nothing, to generate jobs as that all comes from rich people or local initiatives. If the latter I would think republicans would be supporting McConnell in his statement that it isn’t his job to bring jobs to Kentucky.

Quite true; and political suicide nonetheless.

So then the Republicans who are claiming that Obama isn’t creating jobs and the unemployment rate is his fault should be complaining to their local state capitals instead?

There is a reason that I am “Mr.” Miskatonic and not “Dr.” Miskatonic and that reason is inter-college politics.

That and the Deep Ones i summoned at the tenure meeting.

No, no, no, silly. Job creatin’ … why, that’s the responsibility of our wealthy Job Creator overlords, in tandem with our loyal GOP state and local gummints.

Job killin’ … well, that’s something only Obama can do.

McConnell has a point; it’s the House contingent’s job to bring those federal dollars home.

How can a Republican get in trouble by refusing the promote federal involvement at the state and local level?

I think you are R’lyeh taking this too far.

Let’s go to the quarry and throw stuff down there! OMG I can’t stop laughing!

Indictment pending.

Oh stop it. You have to say something about throwing cocks or something. The whole quarry thing is lame without some extras.

Ironically, “without some extras” is redundant.

Somebody’s fiercely projecting. Or projectile vomiting, it’s hard to tell.

I think this is the most important part of the story:

"Det Bowers made the remarks during a sermon at the Christ Church of the Carolinas, where he served for more than a decade as pastor. "

These GOP whackjobs are a victim of their own twisted religion which they twist and twist in their favor. Politician + sermon = ELECTED!
