From your good friends at Daily Kos, their Tweet of the Day re the “War on Whites”:
Chesterton was apparently a very staunch christian, whilst Wells can best be described as something like a unitarian, if such animals existed in those days. Hence, to a christian type person, Chesterton would be the authority on this matter, logic be damned.
(I like using the word “staunch” here, because it puts me in mind of a rag shoved into a bleeding wound.)
Nothing, unless he wants to marry it.
You are aware, are you not, that she makes a very valid point with that comment?
That’s a damn good question. Why can’t we do that in America? Why haven’t we been doing that all along instead of playing political football with it? Our approach to the border problem has been similar to putting bandaids on the forehead of someone bleeding to death from a leg amputation.
Because the situations are not remotely comparable, and because the real world does not lend itself to the childish and simplistic solutions vomited up by talking heads.
Well, that and because Israel and Hamas are currently lobbing shells and rockets at each other. I think most people would agree that’s probably worse than our present border situation.
Because bombing Mexico would only make the problem worse.
One of the stupidest Republicans, Steve King, gets verbally confronted by a young woman who benefited from DACA, and physically grabs the woman’s wrist to interrupt her.
You need to look at some real information.
-The Obama administration has deported ~400,000 people a year.
-It spends $18 billion a year on border enforcement.
-The US has more than 21,000 border control agents, double from the 2005 level and more than all other federal law agencies combined. They use surveillance towers and cameras, Blackhawk helicopters and armed personnel carriers.
-prosecutions for ‘illegal entry’ have increased 130% since 2007
-There are 700 miles of walls and 12,000 motion sensors along the border.
There is a reason people consider Republicans to be stupid. Why can’t Republicans be smart and informed like Israelis? I’d much rather have half the population composed of intelligent Jews than a bunch of head-up-the ass Republicans. That’s a real citizenry I tell ya.
Gp right ahead and make some specific proposals on what you think should be done; let’s see if they hold water.
Right now, it seems that what you and Ms. Coulter are advocating is a massive armed attack on Mexico. Is that what you think should be done?
This is why
Holy shit; he’s rude as hell!
Let me premise this by saying I am horribly embarrassed to be from the same state as the mouthbreathing moron that is Steve King, but I checked out the video because of the “physically grabs the woman’s wrist” and was underwhelmed by the physical part of the confrontation. While he certainly made physical contact with her, I really didn’t find it all that troubling, and I think portraying it as some kind of assault is kinda silly.
I also don’t like the “Let me talk at you for 3 minutes uninterrupted” confrontation style that is used here, and elsewhere. Steve King is a big enough idiot that if you give him enough rope, he’ll hang himself. Hell, he says and thinks, more idiotic stuff getting out of bed than the rest of us do in a lifetime. Tell him who you are, tell him why you think he’s wrong, and let him hang himself. Just talking at him doesn’t get it done for me.
However, N.B.: It is physically possible for Israel to completely seal its border with the Gaza Strip. It is not physically possible for the U.S. to completely seal its border with Mexico.
Firstly, he grabbed her hand after only 30 seconds or so of her talking. Secondly, I don’t know if it was assault, but I thought the way he grabbed her hand was pretty startling – he was the one shaking his finger, and when she tried to speak again he reached out lightning-fast right under her chin and grabbed her wrist. I would be pretty offended if someone did that to me and might even push back.
He didn’t give her much of a chance to tell her story (constantly interrupting her), and he refused to answer any of her questions.
Then how does he get re-elected?
And, it would also be economically disastrous for both countries to try. Consider how much cross-border trade there is since NAFTA. Israel has no trade with Gaza.
BrainGlutton, you know the answer to that question. His voters are ill-informed idiots.
…Because shelling Tijuana isn’t going to affect immigration?
I daresay it would certainly EFFECT it: immigration out of Tijuana, that is.
