Stupid Republican idea of the day

Whoever posted this one owes me a new monitor:

Who could have predicted that would happen on the internet?

Except for anyone who’s ever seen the internet, I mean.

Damn, some mod there has taken an axe to the comments. Most of the snarky ones are already gone, leaving mostly sincere idiots.

I can’t tell the difference.

This is my favorite – just beautifully crafted. The phrase “quim craft” is fucking genius.

They must be making their way through the forums. There’s still some good ones in National Security:

Understatement of the day, courtesy of the Washington Post:

Republicans’ new Web site not exactly what they hoped it would be

Reading this thread and considering the actual suggestions Republicans have made, why would you peg that percent of trolls so high. I think without a single troll many of those suggestions would still be there.

Oh, and that article! HILARITY. Key quote:

Sweet cracker sandwich, that is just … whoever submitted that one wins the Internet, for sure.

And my new favorite thing from the actual website (the “Open Mic” forum):

I love America more than ever right now. Sunuvabitch, but I am a secret Vichy troll-enabler.

True, but it takes a real troll to post something like this:

(Link deliberately broken in the interest of saving your eyeballs)

-Mod Note: The link in that quote is very NSFW. -Miller

Brilliant.

I’m curious… but not that curious.

I have to disagree. The best line from the article was this one:

"Rep. Mike Pence (Ind.) contributed to the discussion by twice giving out the wrong address for the new site. "

The funny. It BURNS!

Oh. And the “Vote on this idea” from the top of the National Security topic:

"Most of the world seems to call soccer “football”, which is un-American and hurts the NFL’s brand overseas. The UN is worthless if they can’t do anything about that. Are our ambassadors even trying to fix this situation? "

Just wanted to add a **DOUBLE SECRET PROBATION-LEVEL WARNING **that that link goes to an extraordinarily NSFW, graphic hardcore sex image. Some folks (as did I) may have gotten snookered into thinking it was run-of-the-mill teaparty pablum.

It’s an image of three old men having sex. It’s not exactly erotic, but it’s actually not as horrifying and scarring as some of the other shock images that are out there.

From the Wikipedia entry on shock sites. Even the text description should be approached with sanity shields up:

Lemonparty.org contains an image of three elderly men in a bed kissing and having oral sex.

Even setting the trolls and comedians aside, the site is rather problematic for Republicans. Selecting the “Most Interest” option filters most of that stuff out… leaving a bitter (to the party establishment’s taste) residue of genuine fiscal conservatives and libertarians who (at least implicitly, and often not at all implicitly) call the GOP out on its miserable record on the former score and the bogosity of its “less government” rhetoric on the latter score.

EDIT: It occurs to me that part of this may be the result of Poe’s Law: actual social-conservative commentary about Teh Evul Gay and whatnot is so similar to trolldom that it gets lumped in with it and down-voted even by people who might be inclined to agree with the underlying sentiments.

Warning: The Lemon Party link above is absolutely way past NSFW.

ETA: ok, so I’m slow.

Rhythmdvl, that’s what I thought it was, too! Just another looney website with flashing graphics and flaming skulls or somesuch.

Apologies: I should have been more clear on the reasons for making sure that link was broken.

Actually, yeah, you’re right. Now can somebody tell me what I was supposed to do today, besides point and laugh? Because I forgot.

http://www.americaspeakingout.com is the best idea the GOP has ever had. I love this site! And now I’m spending way too much time there instead of, you know, working.
