South Carolina state senator Jake Knotts on the radio promoting his pick for Governor “We already have one raghead in the White House, we don’t need a raghead in the governor’s mansion.”

He’s speaking of Nikki Haley whose parents were born in Punjab. Oh and of course Obama-- that secret Kenyan Muslim.

Thing is, this probably works very well in South Carolina.

This is, remember, the same state where John McCain’s adopted Pakistani [del]illegitimate black[/del] daughter lost him the primary in 2000.

Jake Knotts refer to Haley as a “f#!king raghead” he also went on a tear about her being a crypto-Sikh pretending to be Christian and part of some wild conspiracy theory Haley being a stalking horse for turban-wearing foreigners trying to undermine South Carolina’s God-fearing culture.

According to the Free Times, Knotts claimed Haley’s father is sending letters to Indian saying that his daughter is the first Sikh in the United States running for high office and that “we’re at war over there.”

Well, overall it will recover. We really could do nothing and, given enough time, it will reach some sort of equilibrium. Now, whether that equilibrium will provide the same economic and environmental conditions as before is a different story, but that’s beside the point–nature will go on. I can’t believe how many times you libs forget that simple fact.

Hey, maybe just like global warming there will be increased economic and environmental benefits!

I made similar comments about Bobby Jindal - that I suspected he’d converted to Catholicism to make himself more palatable to voters - before I found out he converted when he was in college and actually believed in exorcism and shit like that.

I don’t think it’s off-limits to suggest that Haley (who like Jindal also adopted a “Western” nickname) did the same thing. Obviously the thing about her doing it to sneak into the government as a secret Sikh is pretty out there.

So is Kentucky, does that mean its not a state? Puerto Rico can call itself the Kingdom of Godzilla for all that it matters. It is not an independent country and is a United States territory. I shudder to think that someone who can neither understand nor care about that distinction might actually be part of Congress. It is a pretty damm good thing to nail the guy on. Puerto Rico’s name is officially “Commonwealth of Puerto Rico” and Virginia’s name is officially “Commonwealth of Virginia” (also Kentucky, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania), but none of them are commonwealths. The term “commonwealth” as used in these names has no meaning under the U.S. constitution or otherwise in U.S. law. Regardless of their names, legally speaking Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States and Virginia (and Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky) are states.

Politically, it’s de rigueur.

She gets to capitalize on the frustration of the public-at-large regarding the spill while not being in a position where she can be called out on her bullshittery. And, of course, build up her non-existent bona fides as an ‘energy expert’.
