Stupid Republican idea of the day

Yes there is…
No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States
and Resident is defined as … a person who lives somewhere permanently or on a long-term basis.

So that eliminates Pres Reagan’s Father

Kamal Saleem
Oh, I swear that he means
The US in radical theocracy
We’ll read the Koran
And turn into Iran
Oh so stealthy
Oh, Kamal Saleem

He did not mention age… Just that it may be to physically challenging , that could be health
She has had a few fainting issues, and her health has been questioned by many

Well, that’s what people are saying, that people question her health. Gender reassignment surgery can have its complications for the elderly and infirm.

Umm. Are you attempting that “irony” here?

Maybe Cruz meant “Net neutrality, like Obamacare, is something we Republicans are going to kneejerk oppose regardless of its merits because Obama’s proposing it.” Makes perfect sense when interpreted that way.

In fact, that’s the only way to interpret Cruz’s statement which gives it an once of rationality and credibility.

I am legit scared of net neutrality being the next big issue of the Obama administration for exactly this reason, and I don’t even live in the US.

The massive, nefarious, bumbling government is constantly reaching its slimy tentacles into every corner of our lives. Obama wants to enact government control over the intertubes. All we want is to prevent overreach, to retain even this tiny corner of freedom, to deregulate the series of tubes.

Because, you know, nothing bad ever came from deregulation. Never. Not even once. Deregulation is always good, red tape is always bad. Every time.

It worked great for the banks and airlines.
Or the CEOs thereof.

Laura Ingraham wants to change the Constitution to strip immigrants’ children of “birthright citizenship.”

Why does Laura Ingraham hate America?

Birthright citizenship is one of the things that really sets America apart from the rest of the world, and makes us special. We are (or we should be!) the most welcoming nation for immigrants on earth.

Meh. Eliminating jus soli is nothing new. And honestly, not at all extreme.

The alternative is jus sanguinis, which has many . . . unfortunate implications. For one thing, it’s the reason Turks living in Germany as “guestworkers,” even after three or four generations in Germany, have had such a hard time getting naturalized. Well, that’s a Euro thing – even if naturalized they might have a hard time getting accepted as really “German” – but America has never been committed to a blood-and-ethnicity conception of “nationhood.”

Well, there was a time when America was – but the ethnicity in question was Anglo-Saxon. Our Founding Fathers were not merely white supremacists, they were Saxon supremacists, they believed English blood superior to all other. Swedes were too “swarthy” for Ben Franklin.

From The Good Shepherd:

ITALIAN-AMERICAN MOB GUY JOSEPH PALMI (JOE PESCI): “Let me ask you something… we Italians, we got our families, and we got the church; the Irish, they have the homeland, Jews their tradition; even the niggers, they got their music. What about you people, Mr. Wilson, what do you have?”

OLD-AMERICAN-WASP-YALIE CIA AGENT EDWARD WILSON (MATT DAMON): “The United States of America. It’s ours. The rest of you are just visiting.”
Does anyone see any reason to regret America scrapping that attitude, as I hope we largely have by now?

Do you hear that whooshing sound going over your head? It’s Ben Franklin’s sense of humor.

'Fraid not; we’ve been over this before in GD.

Rep. Mo Brooks: Obama could go to jail if he eases immigration rules.

The Republicans need to avoid going directly to Stupidville in response to the President’s immigration orders. A better approach will be to simply highlight the consequences of the action, both the intended consequences and the unintended as they come up. Threatening impeachment or arrest is foolish and a threat that can’t be carried out in any case.

And they need some reasonable proposal of their own, not simple obstruction.

You cheer for these fools, actually gloating over their electoral victories … why?
