Stupid Republican idea of the day

According to the leader of an anti-immigrant group, Congress should orchestrate a political coup d’état and install Louie Gohmert as president so he can save Christmas from Mexicans and the “princes and kings and emperors” who are sending them here in order to impose socialism.

I’m not sure my mind can handle so much crazy in one compact dose.

I can see a new seasonal TV movie – How Louis Gohmert Saved Christmas

Bristol Palin: “Obama should be impeached because my mother said so.”

using some rough math, based on the number of posts per month in this thread, it looks like Republican Stupidity is increasing at an approximate rate of around 8% (pick your timeframe, .088 describes the slope of the trendline).

I am not a statistician, and my basic counting arithmetic may be error-prone, this is just the trend I see. Someone better with numbers could tell us how long it would take for the stupid to double.

I think we need a physicist to determine when it will reach critical mass.

I think there was this semi-notable Swiss Patent Clerk who dabbled in Physics. He allegedly had something to say on the upper limits of human* stupidity. I will see if I can find it.

*(I think the Republiopaths are in fact human, but I could be wrong.)

There’s a name for this unit: The half-wit.

I suspect some of this may be due to a recent Adaher effect, where he comes in and engages us with bullshit, distracting us from our core mission, and this is upping the numbers of posts, but unclear whether the posts introducing a new piece of (R) Stupidity are increasing. I hate confounding variables.

Or it is just a factor of their being more republicans. THe liberal thread is smaller because fewer people notice or care when liberals speak.

Well, there’s a couple of black guys in Washington DC that seem to elicit some attention. If shrieks of horror and dismay count as “noticing”.

I just get the feeling that the stupid has increased in disturbing ways. In the previous decade, we had things like “The nation is strong, we will rebound from this horror, so prove it by going to the mall”, that Teresa Schiavo thing, Brownie’s heckuva job, and the classic “I am suspending my campaign so that I can hie back to the Senate chamber and run around with my hair on fire”. It was silly, but mostly inane. Since '09, the stupid has changed. It is not longer the lack of comprehension, it has become aggressive, implacable and fecund, a malign malignancy against which we seem to lack der langen Messer needed to deal with it. This is no longer amusing, it has become distressing. The nation itself needs healthcare.

Yeah, calm rationality doesn’t attract attention like batshit crazy. Who knew?

Well, that’s easy to fix. Pay attention and spot the stupid! You think there’s a lot of it? Well, go find it, and tell us about it! I mean, that seems so bloody obvious, I can’t really imagine why you wouldn’t do it! Well, okay. I can imagine one reason. It’s the same reason why nobody who ever claims “Fox is bad but not worse than the rest of the MSM” ever provides any substantial argumentation for the position.

Another unmemorable brain spew from the Wasilla version of the Algonquin Round Table.

I would go so far as to note that the vast majority of the content of the “liberal stupidity” thread was curated by liberal Dopers. Very little seems to have been posted by conservative Dopers. And the few things that have have mostly been quite easy to dispute as being either not stupid or not liberal.

We really need a TV show: “$h!t my congressman says”.

A case could be made that Adaher’s posts are, in and of themselves, a demonstration of Republican stupid ideas, but given that it is unlikely that he is a Republican officeholder or employed by the Republican Party, they probably don’t count.

There are Republican officeholders, by the multitude, identified in this very thread, who are not up to adaher’s standard of coherence. So it’s possible.

ISTR Mark Kessler, former police chief of Gilberton, PA, has been mentioned here. An update:

GOP Congressman Wants To Defund Air Force One

They really just cannot stand that that black man is living in that big, beautiful house and flying around in that big, beautiful airplane.

That’s a bit of an exaggeration; he suggests decreasing the White House’s budget, including Air Force One, not necessarily cutting it entirely. And the picture used in the article is at least a couple decades old.
