Stupid Republican idea of the day

If the article is to be believed, he was told he could not leave the animal shelter until he produced ID. This leads me to believe they possibly illegally detained him, which prolly enraged the shit outta the guy, given his history and beliefs.

I was wondering about that. I hope what the reporter meant was he could not leave the dog there without showing ID. Because, as you say, telling the guy he can’t leave has gotta be illegal detention.

In any case, as previously noted, this guy was a “sovereign citizen” (oxymoron?), he does not really belong in a thread about stupid Republicans. The Rs want to destroy the country, not leave it.

Sorry, missed the edit window. Other stories, like the one linked below, say that he was told he had to show ID to leave the animal. The altercation was outside the shelter, so Lawrence himself was evidently allowed to leave.

Hell, it would have enraged me too.

Sounds to me like they called the cops on him when he got belligerent about not being able to leave the dog without showing proper ID. The cop fight was because of his attitude, not the lack of ID.

 Two different kinds of right-wing stupid, happy to kill each other. With American stupidity dwindling, hopefully, don’t they see each other as allies?
Or, maybe the “sovereigns” are expendable – I guess they don’t vote.

(BTW, I was a sovereign when I was about 14; I was Grand Duke of Jvöhl ! I even printed my own money.)

Oklahoma State Senator Don Barrington (the article doesn’t say it but yes, he’s a Republican) wants to make it illegal to wear a hoodie.

Michele Bachmann takes credit for $2.00 gasoline

I’m sorry, but are you fucking kidding me?!

Your name is dangerously close to **smapti.
**Just sayin’.

Well, the Rev. Phelps died last year, so there’s a big chunk of stupid gone, right there.

I haven’t noticed any drop in stupidity.

He passed on his* katra*, like Spock did to Dr. McCoy.

from the link,
*… Bachmann was referring to a campaign promise from her failed run at the presidency in which she vowed to bring gas prices back down under two dollars per gallon.

“Under President Bachmann you will see gasoline come down below $2 a gallon again,” Bachmann said at a South Carolina rally in 2012. “That will happen.”*
And why has gas mostly stayed under $4? Because the economy is still sluggish. A Bachmann presidency will see sub-$2 gas because she will crash the country, no one will be able to afford to drive.

Louie Gohmert is challenging Boehner for speaker.

Republicans – please vote for this man.

When God closes a stupid door, He opens a stupid window.

Huckabee exploring presidential run – scary when the rest of the party makes preacherman look reasonable by comparison.

With Republicans taking over Congress tomorrow, I’m expecting a massive explosion of activity in this thread for the next two years. Hope the SDMB database software can handle it!

Won’t somebody please think about the hamsters!

You are talking about hamsters in a thread on Stupid Republican Ideas? That is just sick.
