You can’t blame Tucker Carlson for defending privileges of all kinds. I’m surprised the guy can talk at all with all those silver spoons in his mouth.
Why do they even allow bow-tie wearing “pundits” on the air?
Aaaaand we start 2015 with a prediction that trickle down is gonna make everything better for everyone from the Motley Fool. Everything old is new again!
You misunderstand. When Cramer says “workers” will get a share of the embarrassingly large profits, he means “shareholders” because, as we all know, shareholders are the ones who do the real work.
Which is why the tax rates for investors are so much lower than the tax rates for coal miners. It’s only fair.
Louie Gohmert says it will “devastate this country” if he’s not elected Speaker of the House.
I suspect he means it will devastate the GOP, but that is the country for these idiots.
“Sovereign citizens” don’t want to leave either; they think they can eat their cake (live in the U.S.) and have it too (not be subject to its laws).
I’m betting this thread hits 600 pages by election day 2016. We should have a pool. Winner gets to up his Xanax dosage.
If you don’t elect me, I’m going to take my Tea Party and go home!
It’s my party, and I’ll …
I really like how he says they are going to wipe the IRS code and Forbes it. That ought to take care of that pesky 501(c) problem.
After years of litigation - all the way to SCOTUS (which declined to grant cert), Florida clerks of court are now required to issue marriage licenses to gay couples. They’re not required to perform weddings, but they always have, just like everywhere else. So now some of the reactionary clerks are taking their balls and going home - refusing to perform any weddings so they don’t have to marry no homos.
This is a job for Marryin’ Sam!
Actually I don’t completely disagree with this, it’s just that there is a loooong delay before the profits make it down to the workers. And if you are not employed in a good job by a successful company, you miss out completely, so the profits only trickle to the upper-middle class.
As the economy improves, companies expand and they need the best talent to do so. This creates heavy competition for workers. Not only do people seeking new jobs benefit, but even people that stay in their jobs may benefit because companies need to pay to retain their employees or risk them seeking a better job in the market, where companies are fighting over the talented workers, offering relocation packages and signing bonuses. The last time this happened was in the late 90’s, just as I was entering the workforce and I do remember my manager pulling me into a room and telling me, “Congrats you just got a 10% raise, market adjustment.” Hopefully those days WILL come again, but we are not there yet.
I think your definition of “everyone” needs tinkering.
I don’t think this counts as a stupid Republican idea unless we’re calling religion in general a stupid Republican idea. And it’s not as if there aren’t a lot of religious Democrats, who while supporting gay marriage as a secular concept, can’t violate their faith by personally participating.
Opposition to gay marriage in general is a stupid Republican idea, and not being willing to perform a gay marriage is a stupid Republican idea, whether it comes from religion or not.
“Religion in general” does not have an objection to gay marriage. And they don’t have to personally participate. The deputy clerks are the ones who solemnize marriages, for the most part; in counties where the clerks perform weddings themselves, they’re generally either mass solemnizations or Important People’s weddings.
If they believe running an office which performs same-sex marriages violates their faith, they are free to [del]fuck off[/del] resign. That is just as true of Democrats, but all the clerks involved happen to be Republicans.
There are also gay people who are truly religious, who want to get married to another gay person in a church, so how does one resolve that “violation of faith”?
