Suck it Big 10! (NCAA Football)

I am going to fore go my usual southern gentility* and give a very heartfelt “eat it motherfucker!” to our good dopers who are fans of the Big 10 conference. I have had to listen to you idiots all year carping how the SEC is over-rated and how they don’t play anybody. We SEC fans pointed out that the only true way to judge conferences was the bowl games, but you y’all rationalized and speculated and put your hopes on Ohio State. OSU was 0-8 against the SEC in bowl games going in to tonights game. 0-9 now bitches!

Suck it, ya Great Lakes** swimming bastards!

Final conference bowl standings are listed below:

Sun Belt (1 team) 1-0 1.000
MWC (5 teams) 4-1 .800
SEC (9 teams) 7-2 .777
Pac-10 (6 teams) 4-2 .667
Big East (5 teams) 3-2 .600
Big 12 (8 teams) 5-3 .625
Big Ten (8 teams) 3-5 .375
C-USA (6 teams) 2-4 .333
ACC (8teams) 2-6 .250
WAC (4 teams) 1-3 .250
Independents (1 team) 0-1 .000
MAC (3 teams) 0-3 .000

And, who won the championship?

On a less provacational note, I got to hand it to the Mountain West. Y’all may be be a “lower tier” conference but you’re pretty fucking dangerous.

*As if I ever had any
**I really can’t criticize the Great Lakes. Beautiful country and great fishing. I caught some beautiful northern pike and walleye up there.

Big Tenner here.

I supported LSU during tonights game and Mrs. Duckster (Alabama) asked me why, since I come from the Big Ten*.

Simple, really. The entire Big Ten outside of Ohio State fans, never supports Ohio State. Period. Never. Nada.

Of course, Penn State is approaching that lifetime ban for the simple reason they don’t belong in the Big Ten.

  • Yeah, we lost to Tennessee in the Outback Bowl this year. The Wisconsin coach made two serious blunders that cost us the win. At the same time, Wisconsin just didn’t know Tennessee is the dirtiest team/set of fans in the SEC and they proved it again as well. But I digress.

It’s pretty clear that the SEC is the top conference this year. Next year, who knows? But this year, hoo boy, it’s SEC all the way.

Gah.

The Super-est Ever Conference can suck it.

I’m tired of hearing about SEC dominance. They’re good, but not as good as ESPN says.

I look forward to seeing Georgia’s ass get kicked in their first out of conference road game that involves real travel since forever in 2009.

I don’t talk smack, and I don’t respect people who do, regardless of what team they’re on/they support. My team lost tonight, but I’m an old-timer Buckeye fan so I’ve had my heart broken before, and I’ll live. But for all that’s holy, if we just anointed the fucking SEC as the greatest conference in the galaxy for all time, could we stop with the stupid ‘which conference is better’ debates? Jesus Christ I am so sick of the screaming from the fans of all stripes (this year the SEC fans have been the loudest, other years it’s the PAC-10, etc); truthfully, I don’t watch conferences, I watch individual teams playing each other. That’s where I find the fun in football. But the endless ‘we’re better’ / ‘no, we’re better’ shit gets very old.

And now I don’t have any more college football to watch and those fucking assholes with their fucking stock cars are going to start up in a month for the longest fucking season of any sport that I can think of off the top of my head or at least it seems that way. I FUCKING HATE NASCAR!

Just had to get that off my chest.

You may have the best conference this year, but Michigan is something like 7-3 against the SEC in bowl games, and even better overall. That’s all that matters to me, so eat a dick, SEC.

Here’s a tissue.

Bwaaaahahahahahaha!

I’ll give you Michigan. On paper, Florida should have killed the Wolverines. But games are played on grass - not paper (which is why OSU loses the big ones). UM dominated the line of scrimmage from both sides of the ball. Committed what, four turnovers? And still one.

This Auburn fan tips his hat to Michigan.

But what else has the Big Ten got? Illinois? Please.

I started this thread because I was waiting for the game tonight and I didn’t think I should zombify a Cafe Society thread with Suck it, Lamar Mundane!

“Won”, not “one”. The SEC for football, the Big Ten for education.

Damnit, I knew somebody was going to call me on that.

But hey, we have Vanderbilt. They’re damn near Ivy League.

The Big 10 is in no position to smack-talk Georgia. As I pointed out in the other thread:

Georgia has beaten any Big 10 team thrown at them in bowl games in the past 30 years. Ohio State, Michigan State, Wisconsin (twice), Purdue (twice). With a bonus victory over Notre Dame.

Meh. The Big 10 played three bowl games against SEC schools. Each of those games was in the home state of the SEC opponent. One big win, one big loss, one narrow loss. Color me unimpressed. Put the title game in Michigan Stadium and see how the SEC would fare then.

Forgot about Appalachian St. already?

Hey, anyone who beats OSU is good by me, SEC or no. I’ve already had my fun watching Michigan use Tim Tebow as a plow.

And we (UK) beat FSU!

Suck it, Bobby Bowden!

Nope, not a Big Ten person. Big XII. Our bowls could have been better this year… A&M and Colorado lost close ones, and screw the U of O.

The Big 12 has nothing to be ashamed of. The conference has had a couple of off years lately because of recruiting violations (that never happens in the SEC  ), but you’ll be back.

What cracks me up about the conferences this year, besides the obvious groundless Big 10 crowing I had to hear, is how bad the ACC has become. They poached the Hell out of the Big East to get their conference up to twelve and have a championship game.

As it turned out, the Big East is actually stronger and the ACC can’t even sell out their title game. That game is even getting booted out of Jacksonville. I didn’t see that coming, but I’m chuckling just the same. Call it Schadenfreude.

And have a football team that would be top half of the Big 10.

Go 'Dores!

Well said. I had no idea I’m supposed to be sorry OSU lost just because I went to a different Big Ten school. For me, the sun always shines a little brighter when Ohio State loses, and the birds sing a little more sweetly. I had a great time watching LSU pour it on. I’m not the “root for the conference” type anyway, and as much as the Big Ten sucks thing is getting a little played out, I don’t have delusions about the conference being better than it is.

And Ohio State is 0-9 against the SEC in bowl games. That’s rather telling. I think that the Big 10 needs a conference championship game, played about 2 weeks after their last regular season game. That extra 2 weeks off hurts their bowl performances.
