Is that so? (hint: I’m pretty sure it isn’t)
Besides, most bookies give around 3 points for home-field advantaage. Based on your comments, they need to revise that practice to about 20 any time OSU plays an away game.

The SEC is just lucky that my Northwestern Wildcats were snubbed for a bowl bid this year. We were eligible! But y’all were just to afraid to play us with our gaudy 6-6 record and our fabulous purple uniforms.
Next year, Motor City Bowl, here we come!
You can look up the results of UGA’s last visit to Michigan stadium, if you’d like. You know, the time when UM refused to commit to a return trip down south. It didn’t go so well for the maize and blue.
Big Tenner here and yep the SEC was the best conference this year and the Big Ten was on a down year.
So what?
Yeah, I never got this either.
Our group of loosely affiliated football teams, some of which are my favorite team’s rivals, so I hate them, is better than your group! SUCK ON THAT!
My two cents: the winner of the SEC championship game should be named the #1 team for the year.
That was indeed Georgia’s last regular season game outside the south. Back in the Johnson Administration. At least it was Lyndon and not Andrew.
No. No, you didn’t.
You beat 2/3’s of FSU including (for all practical purposes) our 2nd and 3rd string defense. The damn shame of it is that given that our offense is struggling to overcome years of piss-poor management (thanks, Jeff - you worthless prick) and trying to assimilate a new scheme, you might have still beaten us even with the starters, but we’ll never know. Now, before anyone jumps on me, I fully admit that it is absolutely no one’s fault but our own that 1/3 of the team couldn’t make the trip. No questions, excuses, or arguments. We fucked up and we have to live with it.
Don’t get me wrong, I like UK. Your never-say-die attitude and tough play as the perennial underdogs is inspiring and exciting.
My wish is that someone will sit both Joe Paterno and Bobby down and say, “Okay guys, one more season for each of you, winner take all.” Then we can close the book on both of them and move on.
You don’t get it. The rankings in college football are driven not only by win/loss record but also strength of schedule. Conference strength is incredibly important because it IS strength of schedule. Hawaii ended the regular season undefeated, but were only ranked tenth and thus had no chance to play for the championship. They were ranked that low because they’re in a weak conference.
Since the BCS is still based on the poll system, rather than a playoff, strength of conference is almost paramount in determining if your team gets to go to the championship. LSU won it this year and they had two conference losses! The poll voters wouldn’t have even briefly considered a two loss team for the championship from most other conferences.
That’s why we care.
I do get it. What I don’t get is people talking about their conferences with the same excitement as their favorite teams.
Exactly. The SEC is the “Super-est Ever Conference” is a self reinforcing statement.
Wow. The SEC is the best ever. Look at this parity from top to bottom. Any given Saturday, a team in the SEC can upset another. That’s because the SEC is so great. How about those Gators with Heisman Boy? Look at how well he did against SEC defenses! And LSU! Wow! Those Tigers managed to win a home game at the Superdome in January. Good golly, they’re the best. They will occupy all slots in the top 25 next year! LSU’s walkons could beat the Patriots, because the Patriots don’t play in the SEC!!!
I just summarized ESPN’s coverage for the past month…
This is absolutely true. Kentucky only beat those FSU players who weren’t (exposed to be) cheats.
USC would stomp lsu.
It runs in cycles and every team is one NCAA violation away from obscurity. Coach gets an offer and then team changes. SEC has done well lately but they will go back down. Ask Noter Dame if they have the key to football immortality. Enjoy it while you can.
I plan to.
Smiling and gloating 'cause next year it all resets and all of us have to start anew. But this year… WE WON!!!
Oh please. If I have to hear one more announcer wax rhapsodic on the storied history of the Big 10 I’m gonna go all Elvis on my TV. The SEC didn’t invent conference pride. We just have better grounds for it.
And those players only stayed around because going pro would mean a pay cut.
As far as I am concerned there is no storied conference, just storied programs and in my mind only five fit the bill: Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan, USC, and Oklahoma.
I think I love you, spoke.
Well Ogre, you know I like you as a friend, but…
