Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to put some beef stew in the crock. After that, I’ll begin on the bedroom closet. I’ll call Dad sometime today. Such an exciting Sunday.
Happy Daddy Day to all you daddies! I am awake and up barely. I shall do laundry and housework today. We shall eat leftover roast so no actual cooking will take place. The dog will get a bath.
0700, and I’m not done with my first cuppa joe yet. 65ºF outside. We planted tomatoes and basil. I need to plant some mozzarella. Actually, there are no tomatoes yet. The basil we planted though, was ready to eat when I picked it up from Trader Joe’s. (It’s cheaper to buy the live plant and plant it, than it is to buy tiny containers of basil from the supermarket.) Since we have some nice basil, going down to Trader Joe’s for some fresh mozzarella and some tomatoes sounds like a good excuse to drive the MG.
But I need to at least start on a second pot of coffee first, and I’ve only finished (as I type) my first cup.
Morning all. Stayed up until after midnight Sattiday so slept until 8am this morning. Not much on the agenda for today, made a list of all the stuff I need to do Monday pre-vacation (because, what good is it if it’s not done at the last minute?). Need to call my brother and wish him a happy Father’s Day (and a Happy one for all the Dad/s out there in the MMP). 40% chance of rain today, with a 80% chance tomorrow.
We’ve got 3 family dads here, in the area (hubby, BiL, my dad). They all want to do something different for Father’s Day. I’d say that I’m trying to negotiate a compromise, but at the moment I’m drinking my first cup of coffee.
Happy Father’s Day to those who father, mentor, dote on their families, big or small.
Mowage took place while it was still cool out. I’ve been wearing earmuffs while I mow, and it makes a difference. The loud noise of ol’ John Deere is hard on me - I didn’t realize how much till I muffled it. After mowage, it was shower and dress and run an errand with my sweetie.
Then I took **FCD **out for lunch, but it had more to do with hunger than Father’s Day, since he’s not my father. Daughter and SIL brought up the furniture while we were out. SIL still needs to bring the individual shelves up so I can start loading them with stuff. I’ve got my record player cabinet ready to move, too, but I need help - it’s too bulky for me to move alone.
I took all the seat cushion covers off the sofa, love seat, and chair, and they’re washed and in the dryer with the throw pillows. I hand-washed FCD’s back brace and knee braces since he’s not doing anything today that requires the extra support. At least I don’t think he is. And I started the chickie in the crock pot. What I don’t use for the dip will be tonight’s supper once I cover it in Sonny’s BBQ sauce. Yum.
Which means I need to go get some good buns and maybe some slaw and some frozen tots or fries. I’ll figure it out eventually.
Oh, yeah, and I had to close the house and turn on the air. Dammit.
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, then came back to da cave and had chikin sallit for N.O.L., after which nappage ensued. ‘Tis HAWT out so glad to be inside and cool. We said goodbye for reals to our Music Director and his spouse, who has served as one of our Vergers for the past twelve years. It was a very large and loooooooong service but a good one. CupCakes we did 370! She’ll know what that means. Also, the choir did a magnificent performance of Te Deum. Bein’ a kinda high end Whiskypalian I was all enrapt!
My tummy hurt today from eating too many potato chips yesterday, so I stayed in with Ursala Kitteh. She hogged the sofa so it was hard getting a nap, but I did. Cool today and overcast. TVWPTB are predicting a cool and rainy summer.
Ride home today took just a few mins more than the ride up on Firday afternoon/evening. Of course today’s ride home included a baseball game which accounted for a couple of hours of the trip!
Well, the closet and the laundry room are cleaned out, a load of [del]crap[/del] donations dropped off to Goodwill and supper is being et. I’ll call Dad in a bit, then call it a day.
Spent most of the afternoon watching the US Open; don’t know why, but I found the golf (or maybe it was just the beautiful course) fascinating. No rain, but it is promised for tomorrow. We shall see.
All y’all take care and catch you on the next MMP.
