Sunday Morning Puzzle #96 -- Misprint Movies

This week’s puzzle is a list of 16 movie titles with something in common. The titles have been broken into doublets, and the doublets alphabetized. However, whenever a title had an odd number of letters, a single letter piece was necessarily included.

+++

Example:

GO NE W IT HT HE WI ND
GO HE HT IT ND NE W WI

+++

Two Problems:

  1. Each title contains a misprint. The misprint is never part of the common factor.

  2. I’m sure you can figure out the other simple problem without me giving it away here. This problem occurred before the film titles were broken.
    Two Mitigating Circumstances:

  3. The misprinted letters can be arranged to spell a possible place to gain more information about the common factor.

  4. The letters displaced by the misprinted letters can be arranged to spell ** PRVT DVD BANJO CLUB**.

Can you discover the original titles and the potentially helpful place?

Note:

While most of the movie titles here are familiar, there are a few somewhat obscure films— including a rather silly sounding zombie picture, and an animated feature (starring a well-known character) that likely went straight to video.

Hint: Problem #2 is merely simple, and quite appropriate, common factor adjustment. The misprint is never in the adjusted common factor.

Elementary, my dear Watson.

Hmmm… I think we may have a winner, Sherlock Hol—(er… Omphaloskeptic)!

Am I to believe you have discovered the snake movie, the westerns…and even the absurd zombie picture? Somehow, I think the answer is “yes”.

Congratulations! And here I was just ready to come back and give one of my periodic hints to help struggling solvers. I guess that’s not necessary now. I guess you’ve just about cleared up this matter.

So which numbered title gave it away?

I do have all 16 titles (with help from IMDb). I think I got either #10 or #16 first, after which about half of the rest were pretty easy (as I’m sure you understand); #5 was the last (not being sure what to do with the &).
