There’s a great espn article explaining what the Eagles defense did on this play. Essentially, DeJean kept himself open and mirrored Mahomes’ movements, just waiting for the throw
The reason it’s a specific term is because you don’t have to tackle the quarterback. Normally, a sack is when you tackle the quarterback behind the line on a passing play. My oldest daughter moved from Kansas City to Philadelphia a couple of months ago and now lives on South 15th Street, just a block from Broad. She rooted for the Eagles and had a blast celebrating when the entire city went wild. I’m starting to think she’s a Super Bowl good-luck charm!
I’m planning to move to Philly myself this year—my house in Florida is already on the market. Here’s hoping I don’t jinx the Birds next season.
When I was in uni, I had a roommate from Philly. Decent dude, but unreliable. Big Eagles fan. Trashed our TV by throwing a brick at it when the Eagles lost.
I came down from MA to go to the parade yesterday and it was unbelievable. At first my daughter and I tried to meet up with my brother & his son, but we were on opposite sides of Broad St so that proved impossible. We wound up watching from Pine & Broad. My personal high point was when Zack Braun shotgunned 4 beers while his bus was stopped opposite us.
And Jalen could not have cemented the crowd more than when he said he’d never climb the Rocky steps until he could do it as a world champion. An amazingly fun time.
