Superbowl 38 Question: The Streaker?

Hi guys!

I’m an Aussie many thousands of miles away. Due to work and the difference in timezones I missed the Superbowl on television but I followed the progress of the game via the offical NFL website - which was pretty cool.

Anyways, disregarding all that contrived bloody MTV half time crap - I understand that there WAS a genuinely unrehearsed and unexpected event - namely the infamous British streaker who has become a serial pest by streaking at some of the world’s most famous sporting events.

In case you’ve never seen some of this guy’s antics, he’s an absolute classic. My personal fave is seeing him streak across the Royal Ascot race track after the Grand National had just run past! Funny stuff.

Well, I understand that a New England linebacker really, REALLY crunched the dude as the cops were trying to catch him. And man, I would LOVE TO SEE THAT TACKLE! I mean, who wouldn’t?

But I went and checked www.superbowl.com and the Sports Illustrated site and I can’t find any photos or motion footage - so I suspect it’s something they’d prefer to act as though it never happened.

So can someone help me? A linkety link perhaps?

Or at least a gorgeous, bone crunching description!

CBS did not show the streaker. There very likely is footage, but the outlets who have it (CBS and NFL Films) will probably not show it to anyone other than the authorities. I believe the man is being charged with a Federal crime of some sort.

I saw the clip on Dave Letterman tonight (who is on CBS), the only censored part of the clip was a blurring of his ass in the video. I don’t know if you get Letterman down in Australia, but if you keep your eyes open, I imagine you’ll eventually see it one place or another. I’m sure there are clips on the internet by now, but I haven’t looked around.

Not totally unexpected.

On his page he states what he was going to do before he did it. Despite all the security at the game he still managed to get to the 20 yard line, strip, then dance a jig.

I don’t have any links to pictures but I know one of the threads over at www.fark.com had pictures.

Here you go: [link deleted]

IS this by any chance the streaker portrayed in that Adidas commercial?

Who was the special teams guy that took him out?

He’s the streaker the Addidas commercial is based on. Don’t know if that is actually him in the Addidas commercial.

There is a good write up on ESPN page 2.

According to MSNBC

ent, I have deleted your link even though it did address the question. I’m sure you meant well, but links to blatently commercial sites are generally not allowed. It depends partly on the advertising/information ratio, and I felt this one was a bit over the top. It’s not a huge deal, and your posting privileges are not in jeopardy over this.

HBO’s Real Sports did a nice segment on this guy a while back. Too bad I know of no way to see it now. From what I recall, he just wants to make people happy. His mother is very embarassed for him. While he is merely bare-assed. (rim-shot!)

Matt Chatham.

He had three tackles that night. This is the one guy he chose not to wrap up.

As the Brit was running toward the end zone, Chatham quickly descended from his right and effortlessly laid him out. It was the epitomy of restraint as a big fit dude in pads T-boning an adrenaline blinded boob could have been much, much worse.

Oh yeah, here’s the gratituous flex and violence. Strangely, I really had to search even to find just that.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central showed the clip on Monday. They typically rerun episodes after only a few weeks.

Also, the hit was made by #53 Greg Favors of the Panthers, not Chathom.

The hit was definitely made by Matt Chatham of the Patriots. (LB #58, out of U. South Dakota). Cite

It wasn’t that hard a hit though. I saw at least a dozen replays and he appeared to pull up rather than hit the poor bastard full-on.

A clip is available at the UK strippers page, I think it’s hilarious the way he’s flattened by Chatham (who will probably get sued).
