Okay, I caught most of this episode yesterday afternoon, when I went on the Canadian sci-fi channel to see when I could catch up on my ‘smallville’ and ‘terminator sarah connor chronicles’ for this week.
Never really seen ‘Supernatural’ before.
Now I’ve got about 3 seasons worth of DVDs to catch up on. :smack: Another show on my ‘gotta watch’ list.
I rewatched this yesterday, and I’ve just got to say that the last scene with Dean and Castiel was one of the more gorgeously shot things I’ve ever seen on television. This may be an instance where my crappy old television is serving me well, but to my eyes, the lighting, the framing, the color palette, the slight graininess, all combined to highlight both the tension of the situation and (because Kripke loves us) the nearly otherworldly exquisiteness of both those men’s faces.
You know, I hadn’t thought of that. I’d taken “you couldn’t have stopped it” as “you couldn’t have changed anything”, and given the “destiny” thing I guess we’re forced to assume that Mary and Yellow Eyes would have found each other somehow, (although perhaps in a much less traumatic manner) but that’s a good catch about the list. I can’t believe the stuff I miss or fail to give the proper weight to sometimes. Too much pretty shuts down my brain!
That’s a good excuse - I’m going to have to remember that. It’s true enough - at times during the show, I find myself just looking at whichever pretty, pretty man is on my screen at the moment. Mmm, pretty men.
Forgot to mention, the best line in the episode might have been when Dean referred to his grandfather (disguised as a priest) as “Father Cheney”. Lot of good throwaway smartass lines on this show.
