I’m in the process of reseaching this but, he failed to acknowledge the possibility of whether or not Joseph and Mary were married BEFORE the emaculate conception. I’m not “in the know” addmittedly. My “joke” was based on that scenario.
I mean, if that were true, the poor guy was probably going home after the reception looking for at least a little action and is met with the stink eye from Mary. That’s GOT to be dissappointing!!!
On the other hand, his religious point is taken in that it sort of addresses the Coveting commandment. I guess if one is watching some form of porn, there’s got to be some sort form of coveting going on. And in that respect, if you’re one who decides to be bound by the commandments, its probably not wise.
However, take the married couple who’s been married for 20, 25 years and there really is no sex life. Divorce? No, the church frowns on that. If one or both of the couple partaking in porn sparks the otherwise nonexistant sex life, if could be looked at as a marriage saver and therefore, extremely religious.

Agnostic theist; I believe there is some God-like entity in existence, though whether or not it’s the J/C version I have no idea. However, I don’t think there is enough evidence to prove the existence of said God.
Porn isn’t good or bad in the same sense that chemicals aren’t good or bad. There isn’t any one word I’d use to describe all of porn except “existent”. For me, personally, the pictures and vids don’t do much, but the written word does. There are so many variations on porn that to comment on any would really necessitate commenting on all, so I’ll just say that some things are bad anywhere and some not. And I respect your right to think porn is Evil Incarnate if you respect my right to think porn is perfectly fine and natural and in some cases rather useful (sex therapy, etc).

I don’t think they could have possibly been married before the immaculate conception since that refers to the conception of Mary. I don’t know of any non-Catholic sects that accept the doctrine of the immaculate conception, but I’m willing to bet that given the fundamentalist tone of Ssarl’s post that he doesn’t belong to one that does accept it. Fundamentalists have a tendency of looking down on anything that makes Mary seem special. The immaculate conception and her perpetual virginity are the two big ones they don’t like.
