So I guess this episode was boring enough that no one started a thread?
The producers obviously wanted to get the Pagonging over ASAP. Good for them. Albert made an incredibly weak play to shake things up (vote out Edna? Really?), and, I don’t remember anything else. Except that the giant Pacific Clam won’t actually grab your arm and drown you, despite everything I learned from Lloyd Bridges and “Sea Hunt”.
Just because I never get to post this early in a thread: I was actually impressed by Coach’s assessment of the game in this episode. He’s really mellowed from previous seasons.
There were really only two thing I took from this:
Returning players are very good at building solid tribal unity - they have experienced the blindsides and can effectively scare the new players straight.
Albert and Sophie are the only ones playing for jury votes. I don’t think for a moment that they seriously considered letting Whitney and Dawn get remotely close to the Final 5 (where one or two challenge wins gives them a million bucks). But by entertaining it, and saying “we’ll see what we can do”, they are much more likely to get those votes than Coach is.
Well, she looks a little mannish. (Actually, she’s not that bad. Though maybe she does look a little like a jack-o-lantern. Love the socks.)
Sorry to see Whitney go, just because I like looking at cute girls. I’m sure her appearance on the show will help her career.
Now the rest of them can start eating themselves.
Ozzie’s livin’ da life. Eating well and staying active, rather than plotting and playing chequers gives him a chance (as he says – over and over and over…). If he can stay in the game long enough, he might be able to shake things up once the hard feelings on the other side take hold.
I| think she looks a bit like Suze Orman.
I like the socks too. Is it just me or is it that there’s been a recurring theme in several seasons–one woman wears knee-length socks to the challenges?
If Ozzie lasts on RI, gets back into the game, wins the 1 or 2 immunity challenges needed to get to the final 3, he’s got an excellent chance - 4 jury members will be from his former alliance. That will also thankfully mean the end of RI, since it will show what a terrible idea it is game-wise.
I was busy live-tweeting and touting with Probst, who has still yet to answer any of my questions. I usually make the thread.
Seriously, though, I highly recommend tweeting and touting with Probst. He really gives some insight into the show’s production and so forth, as well as handing out free buffs for great questions.
Coach does seem to be two steps ahead of everybody else, much like Rob was last season. And he’s keeping the crazy in check so far. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think he can actually win this thing.
On the other hand, I keep liking Cochran more and more, though if he gets to the end he probably won’t have the votes to win. I find myself writing his final TC speeches in my head; I’m not sure how well he’ll be able to sell himself.
Oh, and as an aside, here’s a little tidbit my wife found. Apparently Whitney got married just before the show began filming, then left her brand-new husband to be with Keith. Nice.
He watches the East Coast feed in CBS studios and does it with the East Coast. He does go and do it again with the West Coast sometimes, but not always. One week this season, he did flip it and do West Coast only, but that was the first time.
I’m in the East Coast timezone, so it works out fine for me. He’s very active the entire episode, making videos(touts) and tweets the entire time.
Definitely avoid his twitter account if you are on the west coast. He spoils it majorly along the way.
I was thinking that too… though the preview for next week shows the crazy might be slipping back in.
Instead of RI, I wish the producers would find some way to shake up the “whichever tribe loses the first post-merge vote gets Pagonged” effect. Maybe do something crazy like re-align teams after every challenge. TAKE THAT, STRONG ALLIANCE META!
My first thought for the first II: This is a woman’s challenge. Lower center of gravity gives them a distinct advantage. Note that Brandon was the only male in contention. Cachrane offered much comedic viewing during that challenge. As for the 2nd IC, who the hell would think that a clam could be dangerous, no matter how big?
Ozzie is doing some serious free diving. For anyone who hasn’t done this before, it’s not easy to free dive to the depths he’s doing. He’s got a pretty good strategy going, and if a Survivor retread has to win, I hope it’s him.
I really like watching Ozzy at RI, if only because he’s the only person shown in years doing the actual premise of the show - surviving. I’m glad they’re missing him back at Hot Tuna. It’s been a long time since the role of provider was a factor.
