Survivor: South Pacific October 12 2011

I’ve never heard “Benjamin” as an insult before.

“Benjamin. Benjamin. Benjamin!”

If you could excuse me, I have to go vomit.

Those pigs really died for a worthy cause, huh? A really gross challenge that injured contestants and was unpleasant to watch. Can’t imagine we’ll be seeing that one again.

Stacey was again hilarious in her rants. She’s just so clueless when it comes to the game and how it works and so endlessly bitter that everything she says cracks me up. She has a way with words, too, that’s quite funny. I could have watched her all season. There’s something about her level of intelligence compared to how smart she thinks she is that gets me every time.

I was surprised with the vote, too. I kept thinking Elyse didn’t get enough screen time to get voted off. I guess she just really didn’t have anything interesting to say.

Also, I don’t really see what the point of Keith and Whitney voting for Dawn was. Either way they went against Ozzy. Might as well just not have pissed off Dawn too.

Enjoying this season much more than last.

It was hilarious to see lil Hantz to be so judgmental against Mikaela.

Yeah, but at least Whitney and Keith weren’t directly responsible for Ozzy’s “widowing”. Personally, I’d have concocted a vote to get Ozzy out instead of sniping his snugglebunny. I’m pretty sure Elyse wouldn’t have the charisma or the physical strength to actually manage a revenge for Ozzy’s ouster, but Ozzy is going to be pissy as hell AND roaring for some kind of vengeance. Given the choice of removing someone who would make a dangerous enemy or getting rid of the ally who would tip him over that line, I’d get rid of the dangerous enemy first.

Ozzie has the ability to make a run through redemption island and come back into the game at the end. Voting him out at this stage would probably be the right move

Probst has been saying that they toned it down. It was originally a whole pig, snout, tail, and all.

I’d be the survivor standing on the beach pointing my finger at Jeff and pointing out how much I spent on my teeth and hell no, I’m not playing.

Well, they finally started playing the game. It should be an interesting next few weeks with both idols now in play and the holders somewhat in the crosshairs.

The moustache is either going very far in the game or else it’s getting the quitter’s edit. It’s human has spoken three lines all season.

I think Coach’s team is gonna do well post-merge. Along with the mustache, we’ve heard very little out of Sophie and Albert, who are supposedly helping Coach run the tribe.

Elise had,by far, the nicest skin, the nicest body, and the nicest bikini. Why her, why not one of those skudgy looking guys? Woe is me.

Did they have to bite the meat off of the pig? 'Cause at the end there, one guy had the whole thing in his mouth. I wonder if they could have just picked up the whole thing and carried it over?

I don’t know what was the most disgusting, the spitting of pork or the fact they were so excited to eat pork covered in spit AND dirt.

Total agreement. I can see why they don’t want to dump Ozzy at this stage – their tribe is down one, they really don’t want to lose his strength at this point – but the idea that voting so as to allow the Rebel’s plot to succeed is going to be less offensive to Ozzie than flat out joining in the vote…bizarre. It just makes then look chicken shit.

Originally? Do you mean when they were planning the challenge?

You try being underfed for a couple weeks and we’ll see what you’re excited to eat.

So glad to see Elyse getting voted off. Hopefully this year’s contestants learned that following a charismatic leader around like lovestruck teenagers might get you 2nd place if you’re really lucky, but never the win.

Ozzy’s reaction was funny. It always cracks me up how indignant some people get at being betrayed by people they have every intention of betraying. How dare they!

The pig challenge was yucky.

Yes, during rehearsals. He tweets and touts during the show and he got a lot of messages about the pig.

This link should, in theory, show his brief video response(tout) to it.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. One theory I have is that Cochran realized it would be much easier to obtain a swing vote agaisnt Elyse than one against Ozzy. I’m only guessing, but if that’s the case it was pretty savvy of him. Keith and Whitney both seem intimidated by Ozzy and probably would have balked at helping take him out.
Still, I can’t figure what they were trying to accomplish with their Dawn votes. Plausible deniability?

Unless you’re Amber.

From the previews, it looks like they DIDN’T do this, but my idea was that they could throw Jim under the bus and tell Ozzy that at the last second Jim told them they were supposed to switch their votes. It may have unraveled quickly but it might keep Ozzy on the hook a while longer.
