Survivor 11/20 "Nothing Tastes Better Than Five Hundred Dollars"

Is it just me or could one have sworn, after watching that episode, that Randy and Dwight Schrute had been joined at the hip at some point in time?

The whole Idol play hinged on the supposition that Sugar was far too stupid to have found the real HII, despite having spent 4 trips on Exile Island. That’ll l’arn ya.

I think Bob was hanging on to plausible deniability–voting for Susie, acting disappointed that Randy got whacked.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone as unlikeable as Randy. He can’t even do a simple straightforward act like passing out one cookie each, without turning it into some kind of power trip (“my cookies! I can stomp them in the dirt if I wanna!”), and righteous karma jumped up and bit him in the ass. That was beautiful.

I’ve also never seen such outright rancor and animosity – how many people hate each other? Corinne hates Susie, Randy hates Crystal, Crystal hates Randy, Randy hates everybody except Corinne and Matty. Should be a fun Reunion Show.

I sorta see what you’re saying, but this is Corrine and Randy you’re talking about.

Corrine is in her own little world where she is the bestest, greatest person ever! And she alone should be able to decide what is right and fair in this game.

Randy is… well Randy’s just a grouchy ass hole who got called a poopyhead in kindergarten and never got over it. We all know this.

Combine them with anybody and it just seems like hate hate hate hate. Crystal may be nuts, but at least she’s rationally nuts, if that makes any sense.

Absolutely. I don’t LIKE her, per se, because she really does kind of bitchface about everything, but at least she doesn’t let her head pop out of the game based on a spurious secondhand relationship (Marcus and her cousin being best friends). And she really does have absolutely rocking vote quotes.

Some other things I found interesting about the episode was Kenny having all that money and not getting a single thing at the auction. Also, Randy tipping Jeff the twenty and Jeff nonchalantly putting it in his pocket like “sure I’ll take free money”.

Do the contestants get to keep whatever auction money they don’t spend?

I really think Bob is playing the game well. He can always say, " I didn’t know the Idol was fake." to Corinne and she will buy it because he voted for Suzie and had a good poker face. He played it well. My guess is that Sugar and Bob are going to team up and attempt to go to F2.

The Idol in the Ocean, I don’t buy that it is hidden at camp, maybe just another ploy to get a fake Idol out.

Sugar is playing the game very well, I am so impressed by her skills.

I may have underestimated Kenny a bit, but he is really gaining momentum.

Matty hasn’t talked a lot of strategy, but he may be my pick for Final 3 with Sugar and Bob.

It is so hard to predict, things can change so rapidly…

Corinne is toast. Matty will be seen as a physical threat, so he’s probably out next. Same deal with Crystal, but Kenny would be wise to keep her around as long as possible.

Yes.

And I don’t entirely get the Crystal hate. I don’t *like *her, and she’s a wee bit too emotional to be a really good Survivor player – but she’s not gratuitously obnoxious to people.

I don’t hate her, but in addition to her unstable emotions, she is remarkably useless in challenges for a recent Olympic gold medalist.

Really? I’d never heard that before. I don’t want to cry “cite?” but I am very surprised. I always thought the contestants that left the auction with money were idiots.

I could be wrong – I was on the phone off and on during the show, but thought that was what “they” said. (Didn’t someone say something about “$500 is nice, but a million is nicer”?)

I’ll withdraw my answer until someone who pays better attention than I do comes along.

And, just BTW – why did Susie get out of the bath so fast? I would have lolled till they dragged me out.

I wondered about that myself. My best guess: the water was getting cold.

This was what I came in to say. I was just about vibrating with giddiness by the time TC rolled around, and I agree that this was definitely the best episode I’ve seen in ages.

Now, back to Bob. Would it not be absolutely the most fantastic thing if he is simply making the whole thing up about the “thrown in the ocean but recovered” HII? And, if Sugar believes him, and decides that she really can’t trust Kenny… I could see she and Bob being F2. I think Bob is a genius. I loved that he took his time on Exile Island to simply walk around and explore for his own benefit. I’m just loving this season altogether

That’s what I loved, too. He was in Africa, and he took time to enjoy that fact. I really hope he makes it to the Final 2, but I doubt it.:frowning:

Get in line.

Actually, I just watched this online, and she said she was getting out because it was too hot, if you can believe it.

What was in the ‘Open first’ scroll?

I think it’s the instructions about choosing either the clue or comfort and that they can only pick one.

A clue he already had.

The folks at SurvivorSucks say that the contestant does keep the money, according to Survivors that have posted there in the past. I can see Kenny wanting the $700 more than a sandwich. He seems a forward-thinking guy. There’s a lot he could do with that.
