Survivor 11/23

One of them said, “There’s no way he has the Immunity Idol!” They just couldn’t believe he might have it. Buncha idjits, indeed.

And the killer is that they STILL don’t know that Yul has it. And why should Jonathan tell them now that they’re all sulking and pissed at him again?

Also re the preview for next week:

After how arrogant and snarky Adam and Candice were about Jonathan’s position on the tribe: (“Maybe we should just let him catch all the fish AND come back and start the fire.”), I think it’s hysterical that the Alliance of 5 have turned the tables and are not sharing their meal. My bet is that Adam, Candice and Pavrati slept in again and just assumed that the others would catch the fish, start the fire, boil the water…

Great episode in a very ho-hum season.

I don’t remember the exact wording, but there was also talk of how much he hated Jonathan for betraying him. This, of course, from the guy who tried to vote Jonathan out just one episode prior. There just weren’t enough  's in the world for that little speech. Clearly JP needs to teach him about gracious exits while they hang out at loser lodge.

While Jonathan’s maneuvre may not have benefitted him much, if at all (I still think former Raro would have got rid of him as soon as they could while still having majority over former Aitu), it does at least mean that everyone I like, bar Parvati, is in the majority. I don’t think I could have carried on watching if the Candumb collective were looking like pulling off a Romber.

Great episode! I like the way Jonathan gave his tribe members only partial information to see what they would do with it. They were such idiots that he had to bolt. I agree that he’s going for 2nd place now, and I think Yul would be smart to take him to the final 2, if he can. I’m not sure he’ll be willing to betray Becky, though.

I’m also glad to see that Yul is using the strategy I thought Terry should’ve used last time-- use the II to lure someone onto your team and get the numbers. You can’t count on winning Indivual Immunity as often as Terry did, especially with Ozzy around.

Nate needs to win immunity next or he’s a gonner.

There is a clip on survivor.com. Enjoy!

Nate’s already gone.

From the link:

Traiting? My head hurts…

Which is all kind of ironic, seeing as how he has talked with glee about the prospect of voting Jonathan off every single episode since they “took him in.” Nate is the most split-tongued, lyingest liars who ever lied. Which is about par for the course at this stage of the game.

At least this season we’re not likely to see the amazing stupidity of “Hah hah, our alliance of four is going to vote the five of you off, one at a time!” People this time around may not be willing to discuss strategy (or maybe they’re just unable to discuss it without straining something, and they’re saving themselves for the challenges), but at least they can all count to five this time.

Parvati: " Smart equals sexy."

I agree 100%. But coming from someone who thought Nate was sexy because his pants were falling down, it doesn’t mean much.

Did anyone else notice, that only one person spelled Yul’s name correctly? That first spelling looked like it contained about 8 letters.

“Yuehl.” Who knew one of them was Jewish?

Is that why they always blur him? Should we be cueing the B-52s?

Butt Crack! Baby, Butt Crack!
Butt Crack, baby…!

:smack: I meant Adam. I’d like to see that dorky smile wiped off that big, stupid face of his.

Yeah, and I bet Virginia Tech wants their baseball cap back, too.

Speaking as a UVa alum, Adam, keep talking, because you’re making Va Tech look that much dumber. (UVa rawks!!! Go HOOS!!!)

Speaking as a Survivor watcher, Jonathon, you are without question the game’s smartest player. You are definitely “outwitting” the other nitwits on the island. Your jump back to Aitu was a brilliant, calculated move. You are in the final three even if the Aitu alliance somehow falters along the way.

Speaking as a Doper, BEST. SEASON. EVER.

Jonathan’s smart but Yul’s smarter. He’s making all the right moves and avoiding Jonathan’s mistakes. Notice how despite being outnumbered this week, he developed two different plans to save himself. A second-rate player would have just figured the idol was going to save him and relaxed. Yul had the idol as a Plan B if needed, but he set up another plan to save himself without using the idol.

Notice also how Yul is always working all of the other players, his opponents as well as allies. He’s avoiding Jonathan’s mistake of seeming distant and scheming. He’s also smart enough to know when to step back and let other players take the iniative on deciding unimportant issues, so he doesn’t look bossy. He never says anything bad about anyone at Tribal Council or complains back at the camp.

I agree with all of your points, but at the same time I think Yul has that one thing that makes him a great person in real life but not such a great Surviror player - Honor.

I think he will be forced to play the Immunity Idol at some point and he will do it to save one of his Aitu-mates instead of saving himself, because it’s the ‘honorable’ thing to do. (Hello Cho Bros, I’m looking at you!) And then he’s toast unless he wins Immunity.

I don’t know about not seeming to be scheming. The others noted that they were nervous about how often Yul sought out Jonathan to talk. I think they realize that he’s a schemer. Unfortunately they’re too stupid to figure out what he’s up to until they’re giving their goodbye speech to the camera.

So while I agree that Yul’s smart, he doesn’t try to hide it which may be his demise. On the other hand, I think Pavrati is a lot smarter than she lets on.

That might have given them the impression that Yul does not have the HI. They may be thinking, ‘Look how hard he’s trying to get someone to vote with him. He knows he’s in danger of being voted off and he’s trying to save himself. Why would he do that if he had the idol?’

Of course we all know that it’s better to not use the idol if you have other options. But assuming the others can think along the lines I’ve posted above, they may not be able to think farther than that.

I think they can’t think that far ahead. If they force Yul to use the Immunity Idol, it will be gone and they can vote him off at the next TC (if he doesn’t win Immunity). They may be thinking the Immunity Idol will save him indefinitely.
