I think he doomed himself by being charming and resourceful while playing with people who weren’t idiots, as you say. I dig him like everyone else, but his greatest flaw is a constitutional inability to fly under the radar.
When Davie was picking people to join him on the reward feast, and Jeff asked if anyone wanted to make a case for themselves as deserving to be included, I yelled at the TV "Angelina does!’.
And sure enough…

I so hope that Angelina makes it to the finals, I want to see her bring up the rice thing in her final plea.
+1
It is clear that the last few have decided she is the “Goat”, that person you take to the Final Three as you know she wont get a single vote.

So I assume that you believe Angelina when she claimed that she “sacrificed” herself in order to get rice for the tribe, and that she really, really, really expected nothing in return?
I’m well aware that skillful editing can manipulate the audience, but I’m also logical. Whether she was interested in him romantically or not, Gabby certainly had an emotional connection with Christian, often literally crying on his shoulder.
It made no sense for her to suddenly do a 180, especially at a time when it would ultimately harm HER because she was surrendering the advantage that the Davids had worked so hard to get. There was another reason why she turned on him so suddenly, and I don’t think that it was coincidental that it was immediately after he gushed about his GF.
Actions speak louder than words.
And by turning on Christian so early, she succeeded only in getting them both voted off.
In other news, I was really impressed both by Nick’s strategy of finding an “idol” in front of the others. In fact, I think it was pretty brilliant. And I also think that Davie was very insightful for seeing right through it. So I’m still rooting for either of them.
Alison keeps making it through. I can’t believe that she stayed on that balance beam for so long. Her legs were shaking the entire time.
Kara is like Casper the Ghost. I’m constantly trying to remember who I’m missing from my recollection, and it’s always her.
I don’t like Mike. He voted off Christian.
That’s what’s been garnering him votes all along but I’m pretty positive he doomed himself by leaving Nick out of his plans at the previous tribal. His Achilles Heel was deferring to Gabby one too many times.
It’s because he had the necklace.
Oh my god, that’s funny.
I don’t understand Nick’s strategy with the fake idol. By finding it himself, he just put a target on his back and then he burned both the fake one and his real one at tribal.
He was hoping that by introducing a fake idol, the rest of the group would assume the only idol out there had been found and so would then stop looking. That left the real idol out there for him to look for at his leisure and without competition.
He put it where he thought it would be easily stumbled upon, but when it appeared it wouldn’t be discovered after all, he “found” it himself. Most of the tribe knew he had a real one so it didn’t really increase his being the object of targeting. And anyway, this season targeting someone just because they have an idol doesn’t seem to be an overriding strategy.
Then in an unrelated issue, he played the fake one at tribal so as to gage the rest of the groups reaction in an effort to judge whether he should play his real one. Ironically when someone (Angelina?) said she didn’t think he should play the real one, it scared him into playing it.
I thought it was pretty smart play both times.
I understand his stated goals, I just think it was terrible strategy. Leaving it for someone else to find made sense, but finding it himself just put a target on his back (and it did, Davie started working against him when it happened), then he “played” the fake idol to gauge reactions and based on that decided to play his real idol which he didn’t need to do: he didn’t get any votes. His strategy a) burned his real idol; b) blew up his alliance; and c) put a target on his back. Plus, he didn’t find the real idol, Davie did.
You’re assuming he knew in advance that knew what would happen. Good strategies don’t alway work on Survivor, they require other cast members to go along or fall for them. So despite the fact that it sort of backfired I still appreciate his making the attempt. And I still contend that, on paper, it was a good plan.
I liked Christian as much as anybody and was sorry to see him go, but it was inevitable. The rest are just too smart not to realize he would beat any and all of them in a Final TC. Maybe he helped cut his own throat by distancing himself from Nick, but I don’t know. Seems like his time had come regardless.
Man, this is going to be a great finish, I think. These folks are playing their asses off, and I think any of them could win except Angelina. Mike’s game hasn’t been great, but it hasn’t been terrible either, and everyone clearly likes him a lot. Everyone else seems to have a good mix of resume and likability.
I didn’t think I’d say this, but it has finally been long enough:
I want an All-stars game next season.
I only want people in their second attempt, though. All in the last few years, please. I think we’ve gone long enough and there are some good people out there.
I like it but I want Christian back, if he is up to it.
I second this! As much as I enjoyed watching them in the past, I’ve seen enough of Russell, Rob and Parvati.
When was the last All Star season with only first time returnees?
Season 31. Jeremy Collins won
There has only been two all-star seasons with only first tine returnees, Season 8 (Amber won) and Season 31
Heroes vs Villains, Season 20, were all returnees, but several players had played at least 2 times before. like Boston Rob, Pavarti, Colby and Rupert.
Season 34 was Game Changers, an all returnee season, but several players had played multiple times, like Cerie and J.T.
They are in streak of 3 seasons in a row with all newbies. (HHH, Ghost Island, DvG). There has not been a streak of 4 seasons with all newbies since Seasons 12-15. (Panama, Cook Islands, Fiji, China)
