Oh, Nemo, I hope you’re right. I used to like Rob, but now he just bugs me. He needs his come-uppance but good!
Just so we’re clear, I’m not a small guy. At six feet tall and 205 pounds, I’d like to think I’m a pretty tough-looking customer in most walks of life.
But dammit, I just lost my sh*t tonight when they showed the piece of Rupert’s video.
I didn’t used to be this way, really. But Mrs. Chastain is expecting our first child, a girl, and I was thinking about how hard it would be if I were chosen for this game. And when Rupert’s pretty wife and adorable little girl showed up, and then they showed him fighting back the tears, that was it for me. G’night Gracie.
That said, Rob’s days are definitely numbered, and he’s starting to realize it, too. Lose immunity just once, and you’re history, Rawbfadda. The other Chaperans will still maintain the advantage, even if they ditch you.
My prediction for the Final Four are Rupert, Jenna, Amber and Tom. We’ll see how that pans out.
Does anyone know why Jenna wants her daughters to sign?
Does anyone know how the teams were picked for the challenge? At first glance, I pretty much knew it was going to be Rob’s team going to the finals. Tom and Rupert were just to large to make it gracefully through the obstacles.
For a few moments, I was thinking “Ooh, a mental challenge” when I saw the puzzle. I never in a million years would have dreamed that Rob would win that. Plus, I really wanted to see him lose for obvious reasons.
I did think that his “kind” gesture by letting everyone get their letters was a strong move. I also appreciated it, if for no other reason than not having to watch his stupid brothers whole video. Gee, who would have imagined that Rob was the intellect of the family.
I was impressed by the formation of the teams for the challenge. With Kathy on one team and Shi Ann on the other team, there was no hope that both could win immunity.
The teams were selected by two randomly chosen captains. Rupert was one, I forget who the other one was. But they didn’t show that part, so we don’t know who got to choose first.
See, now, I thought the opposite, because Rob and Amber still ended up on a team together. I really like most of the people left, but are they really that dense that they couldn’t figure out to split them up? They are obviously much more “dangerous” together than Kathy and Shii Ann.
The two randomly selected captains of the reward challenge teams were Rupert and Alicia. I think they then selected their teams, but they didn’t show that.
I got a hardy laugh out of Kathy’s “master of the game” act she started this week. Since when Kathy? You rode coattails and hid the first Survivor you were on- only avoiding a early boot because you were an outsider who could be (and was) dumped when no longer needed. This game you again made almost no moves, and the ones you did make were wrong. Go sit with pouty Lex who is trying hard to alienate everyone with his tired act.
Rob has played the best game, mentally and physically. He deserves to win. However, in Survivor the person that deserves to win rarely does. So someone like Big Tom or Jenna will probably win.
This edition might be different, as Rob will be the person that everyone will want to face the jury with, seeing that pouty Lex and whiny Kathy blame him (and not their own stupidity) for being dumped.
Shii Ann was oddly proud of herself too, seeing that she was a non-entity this time, and only was let into the game because better players declined and she memorably made a huge blunder the first time.
Yeah what was with Shii Ann’s defiance … way to call out tribal loaylty and alienate and remind Rupert, Jenna, Tom and Alicia why they are voting the way they are. Good grief.
Having said that what in earth can Tom and Alicia be thinking? Do they not realize how much they need to be solid w. each other and offer either Rob/Amber or Jenna/Rupert axis an alternative? I bet either duo would rather take Tom/Alicia than the other – if just for the IC’s.
Anyway I wonder if Rob really IS in trouble – it loooks like Tom, Rupert and Amber seem to be solid for him. Jenna & Alicia (assuming Shii Ann is toast) don’t seem to have the chops to deliver Rob.
Well, these people continue to be mind-bogglingly stupid, or else have just flat out ceded the game to Rob and Amber.
If I had been Kathy, what I would have done is this: I would have gone to tribal council, and at some point just before the vote, I would have told Jeff that I had something to say. Then I would have said something like the following -
“All right, let’s just lay our cards on the table. I know that most of you are planning to vote for me tonight. As you’ve seen, I’ve spent the entire day running around our camp talking to you, and right now I’m going to tell you what I know: every one of you, with the exception of Shii Ann, believes that Rob and Amber will be taking you to the final three. There are four of you; Rob and Amber are lying to three. They also lied to me and Lex. Furthermore, even if you make it to the final three with Rob and Amber - whatever they’re telling you now - your only hope of making final two is to beat Rob in an immunity challenge (and we’ve all seen how easy that is). You may decide to take your chances on the 25% odds that, of all the people to whom Rob and Amber have lied and are lying, you, personally, are the one hearing the truth. But I’ll be voting for Amber tonight, and so will Shii Ann, and anyone who wants to reclaim their place in the game is welcome to join us.”
It would have been a phenomenal move. What did she have to lose by getting specific, by naming names, by calling Rob and Amber on their manipulations? She was leaving anyway.
Oh, well… stupid, stupid people. Shii Ann next week, then Alicia, then Big Tom, then Rupert, then Jenna. Rob and Amber final 2, Rob wins. Boring beyond belief; Jeff and Mark Burnett must hate these people for being such morons.
I agree that unless somebody figures out that everyone else has the same “unbreakable” alliance, Rob’s going to win. I just think it will be in a different order. First Shii Ann will go, to knock off the last of the MogoMogos. Then Alicia will go, since she was the last to make an alliance with Rob and she’s not in with anyone else. At that point Rob and Amber will throw in with Big Tom to take out Rupert and Jenna, then knock out Tom (since we all know he’s not going to win that last endurance IC. Then it comes down to Rob and Amber, and they’ll pick Rob as the one that has played game the best. And I’d have to say he has.
All we can hope for is some kind of big shakeup to wake these people up.
See, now, if I were on the jury, I would never ever EVER in a million bazillion years let Rob get anywhere near that money. I’d sooner vote for Johnny Fairplay, I shit you not. Walking around for 39 days saying that you’re going home with the money does NOT impress me, no matter how good a game you’ve played.* I’d vote against you just for spite. And judging from the people on this season, I don’t think I’d be alone. I think Rob might already have two votes against him. Then again, with this lot, it’s hard to tell.
- For the record (IIRC), Richard did this exact same thing, and I wouldn’t have voted for him either. But it’s moot anyway, because I’ll never get on the show.
I blame Jenna.
For some reason, which has apparently been editted out for us, she is convinced she is Rawb’s #2 girl. And she’s got enough sway with Rupert to convince him it’s so. Apparently Amber’s sheepishness at the Reward last week was totally missed by Rupert and Jenna.
It’s a big mistake to take Rob to final two. Despite his backstabbing he’s got the best chance of an “I played the game win”.
I predict: Shii Ann, Alicia, Rupert, Jenna. Then it comes down the F3 endurance IC.
If Rob wins, he takes Ambuh and wins the whole thing.
If Tom wins, he takes Amber and relies on her Coattail ride to sour the jury. Tom wins.
If Amber wins, she smartly kicks Rob to the curb and brings Tom. Can’t predict whether the jury will see it as coattailing, or a brilliant use 'em and lose 'em backstab.
That’s my prediction, but I’m HOPING those first four wise up and flip as soon as Rob loses immunity.
Hear, hear!
I’m surprised Shi Ann went with Kathy, after her vote for Lex last week. What did she have to gain by voting for Amber? If there was any doubt who’s on the block next week, that dumb move sealed it (and if she can’t beat Rob in a puzzle immunity, she really is hopeless).
Next after that? Rupert. Post Shi Ann, Rb&Am will separately promise final 4 to J&Rp and T&Al (while all the time assuring them that their “fake” promise is mere disinformation). Who will he stay loyal with? The original Chaperans. Rupert still remains the biggest immunity threat, so he needs to be eliminated first. Also, they’ve established that Jenna and Alicia don’t get along, so when they jettison her buddy, Jenna will have a hard time swinging T&Al against R&Am.
Let’s hope so, anyway, since I can. not. stand. Rupert one more instant. I thought it was interesting that Rob (after his video trade-off) said “You all would’ve done the same thing” because it is completely untrue. Not for a second could I imagine the self-absorbed baby Rupert making such a gesture. I kinda doubt Tom would’ve, either (and Kathy and Shi Ann would’ve only done it to try to save their hides).
I’ll take a dozen Robs over another Rupert. One is a proven manipulator and effective competitor (who I hope wins, btw), and the other’s a preening egomaniac whose sense of entitlement is as huge as his insecurity. At least Rob’s got a reason to be cocky.
To be fair, he does that in front of the camera, not the other players.
Yeah, but hope springs eternal. That’s a lot better odds than you get in a lottery, so they very well might have gone for it.
OK, yeah, that’s true. But he does act snarky in front of everyone else (or at least I think he does) - I mean, Kathy and Lex both commented on it, and Kathy even referred to the infamous Scramble To Save Amber as “such a Godfather move” - and she clearly did not mean that in a good way. He’s a turd. (And to think, I used to have half a crush on him! I should have saved myself for Ethan.)
Not so sure about this. Rupert is much “quieter” and actually less annoying this time than he was last time, albeit no less emotional. He definitely would have shared this reward, if for no other reason than that he could win points from the “non-alpha” players. He isn’t as stupid as many people think he is, though he doesn’t mind playing the role. And while he is definitely insecure, he does want to earn a win - I don’t think he expects anyone to just hand it to him, just because.
Rob may think he has a reason to be cocky, but when it comes down to it, he only has one vote in his pocket - and Amber will totally sell him out if the need arises. When, really. I don’t think that Rob has fully planned for the day when he does not have immunity and he becomes vulnerable at TC. He actually expects to keep winning - and IIRC, that only worked for one person (Brian Heidik in Thailand).
Did anyone else notice, during the videos from home part of the show, that Alicia’s mom appears to be white?
Neat! I’d never heard Alicia was mixed-race, and never would have guessed it to look at her.
