Survivor 4/3

Wow, do I really get to start this one? Apologies if I stepped on someone else’s.
Sadly, it’s back on Thursday again. I really liked having it on Wednesday, but it ain’t up to me, so there ya go.
I’m thoroughly pleased that I was off last week with my Alex prediction-I was really glad to see Roger go! But I’m not that sure about what happens now. I think Dave might be putting himself in a bad position by using Heidi as a pillow. Rob and Skeletor are bound to get jealous, and they just got rid of one third of Dave’s alliance. I hate to rely on spoilers again, but there was no reported weight loss when Dave returned, which might indicate he goes soon. Deena may be in trouble, but then, I have no idea why the guys voted for Christy last week, so she may be more vulnerable than I’m realizing.
So I’m guessing Dave, but I might as well guess Alex, out of force of habit.

Deena, because that is what the random number generator in Excel told me.

I’m just terrible at guessing, so I won’t hazard one, but I have to confess that I’m semi-excited for Matthew’s going-crazy tomorrow night.

It’s just such a surprise, you know? He never, ever struck me as the type of guy to do that.

Wouldn’t it be great if Matthew is playing them all for suckers? He almost got in trouble by befriending Dan, but he got out of that. Now, he’s hooked up with Rob and the girls so he’ll coast for a few weeks. If he’s starting to act crazy that might carry him to the final two just because the other person might think everyone will vote against him. The trick is to not over-do it and have them think he’s going to go Norman Bates on them.

I have blown the last three consecutive boots, and yet I’m still in 10th place in the Piranha Pool. I think that says things both about how unpredictable this season has been after the first couple boots, plus how much more careful CBS is being with giving away things in the previews.

Anyway, my geek points are on Dave this week. His side was on the losing end of a 7-3 vote last week, and I don’t see anything (yet) that’s going to break up the 6 solid votes in that majority (Deena-Jenna-Heidi-Rob-Alex-Matt). Unless Matt goes every bit as nuts as the previews imply (classic tempest in teapot stuff, I’m sure), Dave is a dead man.

I’ve got to go with Dave, too, which is a shame because he’s my favorite amongst the men. But he’s clearly the strongest player who is outside the main alliance. I don’t think Matt is going to go on a killing spree, but that might hurt his chances at TC.

If Dave goes, it will be interesting to see what happens to Butch next week. Is he under the radar enough to be ignored while the other 7 turn on themselvs? I think they’ll take out Alex or Matt next.

I wouldn’t be suprised to see the girls replace Rob with Butch. Rob is simply too annoying to tolerate. He’s been Matt’s handler for the last couple weeks, and if he alienates himself from the group by sacrificing animals and ritualistically pouring blood over his head like I’ve suspected lo these many weeks, Rob’s going down with him.

However, I think Rob’s stupid enough to try to pull something, and the other guys are stupid enough to go along with it. If successful, they’ll all look like genii.

I predict Deena.

I don’t think that the 7 who voted Roger off are a true alliance. They’re a couple of alliances that had a common dislike for Roger. This is hardly shocking as even people in his alliance didn’t like him. I don’t see the 7 functioning as a unit again.

My prediction: Dave, Heidi, Jenna, Butch, and Christy (and/or possibly Alex) vote Mad Matt out of the jungle and into the monkey house.

Well, I would be really glad to see Dave go, i don’t need to see his pompous ass out in the Amazon any longer (semi-translucent comment trying to sound super smart, and the first episode integrity tirade for those of you who want to know where this comes from).

I think he’ll think there is still a man’s alliance out there. Since he is so oblivious to his own fate. He’ll probably figure that Roger was just grating everyone’s nerves and therefore got the boot last week. So the new Jabaru kept its secret alliance well intact and probably will still keep it under wraps. Butch and Dave would still be force fed spin doctoring like Roger’s an ass and had to go no matter what. The new Jabaru should fare well, but i would think that they need to keep maintaining a reassurance to Dave and Butch to keep them thinking they’re still out there in a tight male bond.

With that said, that means Rob, Alex and Matt will have a great time lying to the 2 outsider men. Unless they realize that a woman will win and come together again to vote out say the ever annoying Christy/Heidi/Jenna.

Deena needs to figure out how to win the immunity necklace too. She is now a target, alpha female.

I can’t wait till I see my murderous Matt shed some blood tomorrow. Let’s go matt, i’m routing for you cuz we all think you’re some kind of psycho. Kill, maim, sacrifice some fish to your dark lord. hehe. And speak in the many tongues that you know, scare the American public. Well I’m looking forward to seeing Matt developed into the murderer that he is. I’ve been predicting this episode for a while now. We all knew this was gonna happen.

I agree. It was two separate groups who had differing reasons to get rid of him. The girls wanted him gone because getting rid of him when they did assured he wouldn’t be on the jury, because they knew he wouldn’t vote for a girl, and the guys just wanted him gone because they didn’t like him (even though the two groups were mixed boys and girls).

This week, I think maybe Dave or possibly Deena. The Crazy-Matt bit was played up too much in the previews, so I kind of doubt he’ll go. You know how TPTB like to screw with us.
My money’s on Dave.

Um, she did win it already. In fact, she’s the only one that has this season.

I, too, think Matt is too obvious a choice. I’m not convinced that Deena is the most prominent target, though. I think the Dave/Heidi thing they showed in the previews will lead to Dave getting the boot. Should be a great show!

Matt’s a throw away in the teaser. He is safe-- for now.

Dave is done for without immunity. If be some miracle Dave does get immunity-- Butch is gone. Deena is going to the final four- I don’t know why people keep picking her. The only way she doesn’t is if Rob double crosses her (which he won’t because he would face Jenna/Heidi without an ally).

I could see Deena getting to the Final Four, too, elf6c. I dount Rob would double cross her. She’d dump him in a heartbeat, but he needs her.

I could see Deena, Rob, Christy and maybe Jenna(?) being the F4. They could be a stronger alliance than people think.

to singular1 i know she won it last week, i’m just trying to say that she needs to win in again and again to keep herself safe.

She might’ve grated on the guys’ nerves, when she is slowly becoming into a full blown feminist. Hey, i know girls are good, but you don’t have to tell me that they are better. I think she can be a target from here on in. Final Four for Deena? possibly, highly likely, but with all her wheeling and dealing, i hope it blows up in her face.

No one gets me out right cheering for them, which is why i think the Amazon has been a good Survivor. I hate em all, i want to see what these dolts do with each other. Like when the pompous ass Dave gets the boot, or CrymeaRiver im deaf Christy, the Hideous Boobie Twins, murderous Matt. They have things i hate about them or that weird me out. Whenever they get voted out i cheer… but sadly my best cheers came last week when bigot Roger got the boot. but i’ll cheer just as much when all of them get booted.

i would really want it so that no one wins, but hey u gotta have a winner. Rob and Deena seem good choices, since they are plotting well. I like Butch, he seems the most likeable, but for God’s sake can he get some camera time before he gets the boot? Is he that boring and bottled up that he shares nothing in confessionals?

Oh well can’t wait.

Post-show post:

We’ve reached the all too common “Trying to make the inevitable look surprising and interesting” phase of the show. Dave was the ONLY one that voted for Matthew, despite the editors’ valient attempts to make it look like a 50/50 showdown.

Matthew’s gone next week. He’s a little…socially awkward, to put it mildly. I mean, he admitted in his own words that he has no clue what’s going on and is depending on Rob to tell him what to do. It constantly amazes me how many Survivor contestants come on the show totally unprepared to actually play the game. See Jan from last season.

And, Rob? I understand you’re playing up your geekiness to avoid looking like a threat, and I think you’re deliberately saying stupid things to the camera to get some air time, but you really came off as an ass today when you were moaning about how the hot chicks like the hot guys instead of you. Your teen angst is showing. Let it go, man, let it go.

Rob is simply the dumbest guy who’s ever been on that show. I cannot wait until he’s dropped…you KNOW he won’t see it coming.

The four women will comprise the final four unless some guy manages to win that week’s immunity. You can take that to the bank. Currently there are four guys and four gals. Rob will sell the guys up the river next week, and the women will be able to pick the remaining guys off one at a time. Why wouldn’t they?

Really. Did Rob think he had a chance to make it to the end by allying himself with the women? Was he that far out of the existing alliances with the guys?

And I don’t think Deena can win with six guys on the jury. But who wouldn’t want to drag her along to the end?

Great ep. I’m finding Jenna’s play (or lack thereof) the most interesting, because she’s flying so far under the radar. I think that immunity challenge will ultimately hurt her because it made that so obvious.

Another interesting below-the-radar player is Butch. He voted with the majority this time. But he is the sole remaining member of the testosterone alliance. Will he be able to reposition himself, or is he dead meat?

Good moments:
The masks–and Butch’s had glasses!
The look that passed between the Boobsie Twins when Dave didn’t choose them to share the reward.
Jenna calling Deena a “fat pig.” (As if we needed more evidence of her shallow delusions.)
Christy’s gestures when she was calling Matt “creepy.” Is that ASL for “creepy?” If so, it’s right on!

Granted that Rob’s strategy is a bad choice as it is going to turn around and bite him, but I don’t think he’s quite as stupid as some of you think:

I think he was purposely throwing the immunity challenge. Did he answer even one question correctly? Not that I recall. I think he didn’t want it because he knew he was safe and he didn’t want to draw attention to himself and he didn’t want to piss anyone off by cutting their rope.

Jeff Probst even called him on it.

JP: “Rob, you thought a bushmaster was a park ranger? Come on!”

Rob: “Actually, before you read the choices, I was thinking a bushmaster is a porn star.”

Great exchange.

I also liked how Jeff called Rob out during Tribal Council because he couldn’t help smirking when Matt was talking about how he was bonding with the group. So then Rob had to weasel out of it by saying he was proud of Matt. Total bullshit, but Rob is good at coming up with it under pressure and saying it with conviction.
