Survivor 4/7--And Then There Were Two

Of course…an uber-competent, ultra-fit, mentally strong, confident man who has put twenty years or so into a career based on risking his life to help others and who, in his early 40s, is kicking the asses of 20-somethings. What’s to like there?

Why did I think it was 9?? Gah!! Stupid brain!

On a side note:
I was at Best Buy yesterday and saw that Survivor: Australian Outback comes out this month. Can’t wait to get that!

From a nutritional standpoint, I don’t see the point of balut. Since the egg is a closed system, a raw egg has exactly the same nutritional content as a 20-day-old duck embryo. But without the beak & feathers.

Stephenie has spunk. And unlike Mr. Grant, I like spunk. But she got real lucky on the tiebreaker. Bobby Jon must’ve thought he had it in the bag, as both acknowledge that he’s the better fire-builder.

Poor Steph…all alone, except for the camermen and production crew and associate producers…

I also don’t quite understand the water controversy. I agree that 55 gallons isn’t much, but there doesn’t appear to be a shortage of water. Why would they want to drink it?

Jeff pointed it out at the reward challenge–this is water they don’t have to go get, water they don’t have to carry, and water they don’t have to boil. Just from a work standpoint, it makes more sense to use it for drinking than for showering.

Because it was fresh, clean, didn’t-need-to-be-boiled water, which means it was ready to drink without fear of goodness knows what the heck kind of weird organisms in it. 55 gallons of fresh water would last Koror almost a week (assuming 1 gallon per person per day and no vote-outs). They still have the bush shower from the “Build A Better Outhouse” challenge – if they wanted to shower that badly, they still had that to use. Which I think was kind of Tom’s point.

Works for me, as long as we can switch days every once in a while. My birthday is on a Wednesday this year.

Makes sense. Thanks, Draelin.

Also want to add that I was pleasantly surprised by the non-merge. I figured they had to merge this week, what with being down to two. Burnett finally got creative.

It would be the coolest thing ever if it was Steph vs Koror, and Steph wins a few rounds.

I really don’t like Coby, especially after his bitchy rant against his tribemates; but I was really moved by his confessional. Just an ol’ softy, I guess. (Interesting that Sampiro, who (IIRC) bats on Coby’s team) didn’t fall for it at all.)

Don’t you just hate perfect people, though?

Fantastic. I just checked, and mine’s a Saturday. You’ve got a deal.

I know what you mean, but I like to think of it this way: It’s a lot like real life. How many people just coast by in a corporate environment because they’re lucky enough to work for a good company or be on a good team in a company, or were born into the right family? Happens all the time.

But I gotta say: STEPHANIE ROCKS!!! She has to be the best Survivor of all times-- bar none. For you Tom fans (and I like the guy, too) he hasn’t been the complete challenge stud some of you think. Remember the shooting the plate challenge? Tom got his first one, but missed all the rest. Steph, if your rememeber, never missed a single shot. She’s one of the few Survivors that I’d like to see make it big in the entertainment world once she gets off the island. How much do you think Playboy will offer??? (Of course I mean she can make it big on just her talent, too.)

It will be SOOOOO interesting when the merge happens and Steph, Tom, Ian, Greg and Jenn team up. 5 against 4, but the weaklings have a way of coming together and weeding out the strong once the merge happens.

It didn’t seem real to me, either. I was prepared to love him foreva if he had stopped in midsentence and been like, “Haha, fooled ya!”

He’s the only one who really has confessionals on the whole team. Do we ever hear from Tom? Greg? What about Caryn and Janu? I’m not really connected with Kukor because I don’t know any of the players that well. All we know is that Tom and Ian kick butt, Coby is stronger than he appears, Greg and Jen have a thang going on, and Caryn and Katie had that fight that time. Boring.

When I saw her putting the kindling on first, I thought that she was doing it wrong. A proper fire has the most-flammable stuff on the bottom so that it can ignite the heavier stuff on top of it.

But as I watched, it looked like a good strategy (if it was planned). The torches did not seem to be that high. By putting wood down first, Stephanie basically built a platform to move the faster-burning coconut husks closer to the torch.

I am not a fan of Katie, and it annoys me to no end that she is in The Good Guy Alliance, because I have this terrible fear that somewhere in the back of her mind, she thinks that she is the new Amber, riding someone else’s coattails to a million dollar jackpot. BUT, I strongly believe that neither Ian nor Tom are particularly Boston Rob-like, so hopefully Katie’s thinking will backfire on her. (I also don’t even want to dream of entertaining the thought that she might be possibly getting her grungy nasty lazy-ass lips anywhere NEAR Ian’s mouth, because he is MINE, I tell you, MINE! Back off, bee-yotch! You are SO not his type.)

Even if the final two did somehow miraculously come down to Katie vs. Whoever, would the jury seriously vote for Katie, who has done absolutely nothing but coast the entire time?

Add me to the list. I just don’t get it. And I’ve seen every episode of every Survivor show… I understand the references to the show, but don’t see how they are tied into the comments being made.

Wouldn’t it be funny if NO ONE understands those posts?

I was majorly p.o.d at Tom’s refusal to let them use the water for showers. The revitalization that would occur from cleanliness, not to mention the morale boosting and

Oh, o.k., I’ll admit it. I just wanted to see Ian take a shower with just a minimum of digital blurring. But damn Tom Sharkslayer nonetheless.

Hey, who doesn’t?

Psssst! Post #60 in this thread…

Nobody reads my posts, I swear…

pulls a face

Geeky cuteness notwithstanding, Ian is WAY too skinny for my taste. I could definitely go for some Tom showering, now…

Sorry.

But actually, I know everything you posted in #60, and I still don’t understand the posts in question. Could just be me…

Did anybody else mind when Probst narked Steph out for copying? Hell, Jeff, insulting them is one thing, but stay out of the challenges.

Katie may be the first person ever to gain weight on Survivor. How cool is that?

You can do an awful lot of washing with a few gallon “sea shower;” this one, and the decission to change camps, is going to come back to haunt Tom. I think that’s what I dislike about him, it’s the way he makes a decission and then makes you challenge him on it.

I have really found this run to be very boring, everything seems like a foregone conclusion.
