Survivor 46 - open spoilers

I disagree. I addition to the above mentioned ‘getting to see more players’, I was rooting for them as the underdog. I was actually cheering them on from my couch.

Ummm… What’s-his-face, was sleeping next to a female, didn’t have consent to sleep next to her, and he “groped” or “got handsy”, she felt unsafe, and he was removed. Can’t remember who…

Oh, yeah, that guy. Not who I was referring to, but yeah, deserves a mention of uncomfortable Survivor incidents.

Post Winner’s at War. So season 41 and up, when they switched to 26 days and introduced Beware Advantages and Shots in the Dark.

No that was even worse. He wasn’t voted off, the woman who complained was. Then he got kicked off a few days later for being inappropriate (I don’t know if they ever reveal what he actually did) with a crew member.

Honestly, I don’t remember what happened exactly. I do remember there was a media frenzy on it, because of something like the other two females on the tribe were playing up their reaction to it, but they admitted later in interviews that it was just game strategy, and that set off a wildfire in the media.

Was it this incident?

Yeah, up until that epi my wife and I liked him, but too much.

But we didn’t so much- still the editors focused on the purple team more.

Yep, that was it. I’ve mostly forgotten about it because it just… killed the vibe of the season

Brandon Hantz (nephew of Survivor villain Russell Hantz) was slowly losing it over the first few weeks. In his last episode, he went off the deep end. He told the tribe he wanted them to vote him off, but then took it back. He was really chafing at F.F.A. Philip’s controlling style (completely understandable) and they argued a lot. Philip told another player they might need to throw the challenge to get rid of him, and word of this got back to Brandon leading to another row. Finally Brandon threw out the tribe’s food supply. At the immunity challenge the tribe told Jeff they wanted to forfeit, causing a very long and uncomfortable confrontation that ended with Jeff pulling Brandon aside to calm him down. Jeff gave the idol to the other tribe and Brandon’s tribe voted him out on the spot. The only thing I can say in his defense is having to live with Philip for weeks might drive me over the edge as well.

I’m sure Wheelz’s link has more detail on his breakdown.

The article I linked to says, “Jeff Probst called Brandon over to him to cool him down after manifesting intentions to physically harm anyone.” Which is a very poorly written sentence, but I do recall some of the tribe being legitimately worried that he might become violent.

So the “new era” is just 4 seasons!?

Wow. What a record. So impressive.

And, yet, Boston Rob not only tolerated it, he used it to his advantage.

Spouting platitudes is cheap, anyone can do it. I didn’t like him. One of the most ill equipped player to ever be on the show. A waste of a slot.

Give me Fransequa - fran - franquesta … any day.

I was just looking over the TV listings for the next couple of weeks. This week’s Survivor is the sixth episode of the season. Next week’s episode is titled “Episode Several”.

He was great at the camp stuff- he knew what fruits to find and found them, he knew how to open a coconut, etc. On that sort of thing he was great. His gaming skills were terrible.

Ugh. I have a feeling Venus is the player everyone keeps thinking they’ll vote out “next time,” and she’ll skate her way to the end. I really, really dislike her.

And I’m not a big fan of the more-than-half-the-tribe-is-immune bit. I was hoping this would be a shuffle into two tribes and not a merge. The “new era” is already getting old.

Maybe I’m just cranky, but everything about this episode annoyed me.

I actually liked the concept of splitting the tribes randomly and have half immune. The thing I didn’t like was the way the rocks played out - but, hey, that’s Survivor.

Not a huge fan of the new era either. I miss the hunger, ha ha.

It was a pretty well designed challenge considering how close it ending up being. Also, I hope they do more “everyone has to do the puzzle” challenges in the future. Too many challenges are won just by whoever has the best puzzler.

It was indeed a fun challenge to watch, and nice to see a close one for a change.

In retrospect, it wasn’t such a bad episode. We finally got to see another side to some of the players and how they operate under pressure.

Q definitely had a point; Mo could have and should have done more to save herself before tribal council. It frustrated me that she didn’t. I liked her, but in the end her gameplay was just too passive. I was still kind of surprised that the vote was unanimous.
