Very good episode. I liked that it felt like Survivor again.
LOVED the mini-drama with the folks gathering their immunity idols before the merge. Loved seeing how people were just… clueless, but yet still interfering with the process.
Great competitions. The fact that it was a gender-divided rock-pull was just fantastic - you couldn’t have asked for a more interesting comparison.
Is it just me, or when everyone was covered in mud and muck, and they did the facial close-ups, everyone looked so damn fierce and determined. Tevin, particularly, with the earrings, top-knot hairstyle, and beard, resembled the aztec warrior carvings quite a bit. It was really interesting to see.
Have they just stopped putting hidden immunity idols at the feasts, and on the sit-out bench during competitions? I always loved seeing those.
Great, GREAT tribal. Quite a bit of drama. And them not voting Venus out was a huge mistake.
I wonder that too. Just guessing, I suspect they are there and if no one thinks to look or finds them, Survivor just doesn’t show that part.
100% agree (or 110% in Survivor math). I honestly thought Mo turned a few people around at tribal. Had she fought as hard before tribal as she did at tribal, she would still be there, imho.
I’m split on my feeling about Venus. Personally, I’m not a fan but she’s conniving. It was actually impressive to see her kick it into gear when told she was on the chopping block. But I think her manner might rub people the wrong way in the end.
For all the talk about “siga strong”, they sure caved utterly when it came to the vote. I’m wondering: was Charley (I think, only vote for Venus) just being stubborn? Or was he ‘designated’ to be the vote on Venus just in case Mo won with her shot in the dark?
I think they’d go to everyone else pulling a rock if ALL of the votes cast were invalidated.
Oh, and Hunter really shone in doing the puzzle, so now he’s going to be seen as not only a huge physical threat but also a puzzle threat? I think he’s going to have a hard time of it, never mind the plus one alliance.
My wife and my’s Jaw hit the floor when he said that. What a crock of shit. There aren’t enough roll-eyes on the internet.
As did I. Unless he had some rock solid intel, that was stupid. Between his ability to win challenges and his ability to find idols, he should play one every time he is in possession of one. It worked for Russell. I like the guy but surely he’ll be vote-target soon.
Yeah, I liked her too but IMHO she was too clever too soon. I think folks saw the writing on the wall. I expect Venus might go soon… unless she’s viewed as this season’s Phillip.
Speaking of, I miss deep game players. The vote is always about who you don’t like - that’s not strategic. How many times did we have to listen to Venus whine about getting a vote at tribal. Voting out that person won’t save you. STFU about it and move on.
I just did not see the brilliance of Soda. Kind of an unmemorable player from an unmemorable year. I’ll only remember that name “Soda” in the future, which is definitely a nickname, right?
I’m pulling for Tevin(?), the tall skinny Black man who almost won the balance competition. Either that, or Chris(?) the white guy with the scraggly beard who looks a bit like Jack Quaid to me and my wife.
They seem pretty cool, to be honest. Tevin would be my top choice at this point.
Except that Soda was voted out precisely because she was likeable. It’s funny how the idea of what constitutes a “threat” seems to change from week to week. The real threat is people who manage to get other people to vote the way they want - which Venus somehow seems able to do, even though everyone hates her. It’s perplexing.
Venus can’t do that. Last week she tried to get them to vote out Charlie. This week she wanted out Soda, but the plan was already Soda, and no one would tell her that was already the plan.
I think this is true. After Jeff announced Soda was out, she turned to Venus and asked, “Was it you?” to which Venus said yes. A few heads behind her were shaking, no.
