Survivor 48

This isn’t remotely true. To break them up they only had to vote one of them out. She never played her advantages so she could have gone any time, like … oh, I don’t know, last tribal?

Because there’s no middle ground, right?

I really thought that Kamala and Kyle were going to play an interesting game, but Kyle just kind of locked up. Kamala did about as well as could be expected with what she had; she was my pick for who I thought was going to win it. Mitch has been another disappointment, he just sits there.

I really agree with this post. I’m not sure what’s gotten into Kyle, but yeah, he’s pulled way back. Kamala is trying, the little engine who could but it’s hard to go it basically alone.

Mitch missed his window. In his confessional where he said (something like) “I’m sure people are yelling at their TVs, ‘Mitch, it’s time to make your move’ but they don’t know what it’s like”. I bet when he watches that episode he will have regret that he didn’t make his move.

Really, this is what has kept me interested this season. I am not a Survivor fan. Most seasons it is on the TV at my mother in laws, and sometimes I’ll watch the challenges, but I usually get bored and wander off. Having players be this successful by being honest and loyal to each other, and at the same time not awful[1] to everyone else, keeps my attention. I realize this is not why most people watch.

So anyway, just a contra to the opinion that this season is boring. Of course if they tuned the show to appeal to me, then most of the actual fans would hate it.

Even with everything I said above, and as much as I like Joe and Eva, everyone else absolutely needed to vote him out when he lost immunity. It would have been a twofer at that. How many more rounds would Eva last without Joe?

  1. Obviously they have to vote out other players, but it isn’t edited to show them conspiring in nasty ways. ↩︎

When she could have played her idol- which they knew she had. They werent willing to take that risk.

They got rid of Shaheen

Yeah, very late in the game. I still think the move was to blindside Joe and then take out Shaheen. Eva isn’t much of a threat without Joe.

I don’t watch baseball to see the players be nice to each other, I watch it to see them play the game. It’s the same with Survivor, it’s a game, play it or stay home.

And if Eva had gotten wind and played her Idol on Joe?

Then it wouldn’t have worked, obviously, but they would playing the game, you know, the one I watch for entertainment. Do you like baseball games where every batter doesn’t take a swing and hopes to get walked?

And see they would have gone home, instead they are still there, still playing- they had a plan which worked to get rid of one of the alliance.

Yes, in the made up story playing in your head, they would have gone home.

No, if they had made a move for Joe, in the one epi where they could, and Eva had gotten wind of it, she would have played her Idol on Joe, then the two of them would have voted off Kyle or whoever- then that plan would be unmasked, and rest gone. Kyle isnt stupid, that Idol makes any more against the Duo too risky. Instead- Kyle played them and the Duo voted out one of their allies. That was a good move. And now it seems like Kyle is still loyal.

Cool story.

That’s a huge, improbable ‘if’. Eva and Joe are a power couple. Everyone knows it. If you are plotting against Joe don’t let Eva find out - simple. That’s how blindsides work.

Think back to David’s blindside.

Kyle didn’t choose to go after Joe because he’s smart, or scared of an idol. He’s made it abundantly clear he has some misguided sense of "friendship’ or loyalty. As mentioned upthread, he’s pulled back. And that’s a shame.

Time will tell if that’s a good move. There’s only one sole survivor, remember? He can be a shining beacon of loyalty and still go home empty-handed.

Sure. But then there is Mitch- the unknown in the equation. You need his vote to do a blind side with Kyle and Kamala. But Mitch likes playing the Good Guy. So, he tells, and then he is kept until the final 3 for his loyalty.

Well yeah. Some posters here want big moves with backstabbing and lies- but those things really hurt once you get to the Jury. So, somehow Kyle and Kamala get rid of Joe and Eva- then “good 'ol Mitch” wins.

Its Kamilla, not Kamala.

obviously Kamala does not win.

Wait, so you think Joe is so deserving that voting for him at tribal is “back-stabbing”!? That’s twisted logic - everyone that’s left is equally deserving. How come it’s not back-stabbing when Joe votes someone out?

I didnt say that. I said poster want to watch Big Moves- while the game is on, and backstabbing players- while the game is on. If a player does that is often hurts them with the jury. I didnt say anything about his deserving to win, other than his great record with challenges.

Mary knew damn well she was being voted out, so did Star as did cedrek. Now, yes, Joe did backstab David and Shauhin, so that will hurt Joe, Of course in both cases kyle lied to Joe to get Joe to turn on them, but it wont look good anyway.

But anyway big moves by backstabbing & lying can hurt a player with the Jury- that is simply the way the game has been played.

We can all scroll back up and read what you wrote in context.

Let’s just agree to disagree.

You will note in my actual words, I didnt even mention Joe, or that he was deserving.

Yeah, Joe won a lot of challenges- which counts for something. But hardly enough to win the jury over.

[instead of voting for Joe directly]

In context, it appears you were implying that voting for Joe would have been “backstabbing”, but whatever, I’m done.
