I haven’t really watch the last two episodes. I mean, I had them on, I know who was voted off, but more of my attention was directed toward other things. At one point I said to my husband, “You know, I was never a rabid Survivor fan, but I’ve always been enough of a fan to take more than a passing interest. I think those days are dwindling. Thank god for contestants like Cochrane who compel me to stay interested!”
I gotta give Erik some credit here - he’s flown under the radar as a favorite, played both sides quietly and without any major conflict…I think he could win the whole thing.
I’m going to make the bold prediction that the “have someone point out on the tribal banner who they want you to vote out 15 minutes before leaving for tribal council” strategy will not pay dividends for Erik.
No suspense the next two episodes. They can throw as many editorial misdirections at us as they want, but barring immunities, we know exactly who the next two evictees will be.
Yup. I think if the Favorites Alliance DID fracture they’d use a lot of air time to show us them maneuvering. Since they’re doing two ICs and two TCs in one hour – Pagonging time. Eddie/Reynold, most likely, otherwise Reynold/Eddie.
I never did LIKE Andrea, but I have to give her kudos for having the right attitude about the blindside. It looked like she admired them for pulling it off the way they did instead of being all Bitter Betty. She’s definitely one of the players who manages to keep the fact that it’s a game in perspective (even if it is a game for a million bucks).
OTOH, she also seemed like an extremely paranoid player. There’s been, what? 4-5 times she was convinced she was going home that didn’t pan out, then she got nuked today while having an IM.
I’m not sorry at all to see her go, and I’m very interested in how the tribe dynamics go with her gone. Cochrane rose from “not a chance” to “hmm, maybe?” for me tonight.
As soon as they did the early Tribal Council I knew Reynold or Eddie would be going home. When Reynold lost immunity, it was 99% sure. When they didn’t have any footage of anyone talking to him, it was 100% sure.
Alas, poor Andrea. I think she’s a good player, but for whatever reason, in both her seasons she’s managed to be part of the winning alliance but never made any sub-alliances, and this ended up costing her the game. Telling Cochran he should vote out his strongest ally (Dawn) wasn’t a good move, but she truly had no other allies at that point (except possibly Eddie, who was outside her main alliance). She should’ve paired up with Brenda and maybe someone like Erik or Sherri instead of going against Brenda.
I’m pretty convinced Cochran’s going to win. Obviously, weird things can happen, but no one else has been playing a good game:
Dawn’s completely paranoid, overthinks everything, and is so emotionally taut that she’s ready to snap at any moment. I’m not sure how much people still like her and “everyone constantly told me stuff and I told it to everyone else to get that person voted out” isn’t the sort of strategy that makes people want to give you a million bucks.
Eddie’s a chowderhead with no allies.
Erik’s still a space cadet and is greatly overestimating his importance. He is decent at challenges, though, and seems in a good position to make the finals, but I can’t see him convincing anyone to give him a million dollars.
Sherri barely exists in this game anymore and has zero chance at winning immunity.
Brenda is the only person besides Cochran who really has a chance, in my eyes, as she’s pretty smart and good at challenges. Still, she’s seemed somewhat passive, and was completely invisible in the first half of the season.’
It will be interesting to see how the tribe dynamics go. Cochrane, Dawn, and Brenda are the most plugged in, but both have been relatively passive in their decision making, only choosing to make moves when someone else was attacking them first. Eddie, Erik and Sherri are all essentially free agents waiting for someone to tell them what to do.
Cochran did three things I didn’t quite understand in this episode that all somehow worked out for him.
1/ He told Erik about the plan to oust Andrea. In the previous scene the alliance was talking about splitting the vote, so why not just tell that moron Erik just to vote for Reynold and get the deciding vote for Andrea from somewhere else (including himself; see pt 3)?
2/ He mentioned at Tribal Council that Andrea only had a limited time in which to play the HII. The plan was not to let her get any inkling of a plot to get her out, but in a way he was encouraging her to play the HII. Why?
3/ He voted for Eddie as the women of the alliance were voting out Andrea. Why?
I really don’t get Cochran’s reasoning in this episode.
I think you need to keep Erik engaged. He doesn’t want to be on the sideline, even though he’s flaky. Heck, everyone wants to be engaged - you need to keep everyone updated to make them feel secure in the alliance. Once someone stops talking to you, you’re out.
It was a direct question, and that was pretty much the only right answer. Cochran’s pretty good at lying, but I’m not sure you can really obfuscate there - Probst will call you out. Best to just answer the question quickly and move on.
No idea. Maybe as a precaution, in case you think one of the women are going to waver, and you can switch your vote?
No, we didn’t. The News decided it would be better to have live coverage of the May Day march, and the confrontation with police. I’ll have to catch it on On Demand. (No, I haven’t read the thread.)
I wonder if that’s allowed. I don’t remember it ever being done before. Jeff Probst says that the show likes it when the cast takes matters into their own hands, like in this week’s balancing challenge when Andrea makes up the new ‘one foot only’ part. So I bet this would be allowed.
Im feeling underwhelmed this season with the players left.
Pretty much all of them have been coat talling someone else and here we have a bunch of people that cant make decisions on their own.
It unusual for such an alliance keep it together for so long.
At this stage of the game now that they got rid of Andrea is to get rid of Cochran but unless someone else comes with that plan I cant see Sherri or Dawn think of it.
I dont know what to think of Brenda, she has not upset anyone and besides that IC she has really been low key and very subservient to whoever controls the alliance.
Eric is playing it smart I think and might make to final three.
Dawn and Sherri are too weak to be contenders but one of them will probably make it to the final three.
I dont know, none of the remaining players really deserve to win imo.
They split the vote in case the idol was played. The guys voted for Eddie, the girls voted for Andrea. (Andrea & Eddie voted for Brenda) That way if Andrea plays the idol, it’s a tie between Eddie & Brenda, they revote and Eddie goes home. If Cochran had voted for Andrea and she played the idol, Brenda goes home.
