Survivor 5-4

Yep. For all the backlash against Terry, the fact is, he wouldn’t come across nearly as arrogant if the people against whom he was competing weren’t such total assholes (with the exception of Cirie).

Buh-bye, Shane. I feel a little cheated that you took the class clown route as your exit strategy instead of flaming. Moonwife and I turn turns mentioning how it was kinda sad that his son has to spend his childhood providing emotional support for his wacko dad.

I was every critical of Aras early on, but he’s somewhat won me over. Remember that whole “let’s-put-our-hands-together-to-make-fire” b.s.? Followed up by, “nothing personal, but one of you is going home” (also said by Shane)? Pretentious and a jerk. But he’s played pretty smart, been loyal to his alliance and kept a cool head when others were losing theirs. Obviously, he’s off base arguing that your rock is your rock whether it’s your wife or Mom, but you can understand his reasoning because…

…he’s only 24!!!

For a kid at 24, he shows a lot more character than most (and that’s not taking into consideration his involvement with Down’s Syndrome kids and such). Terry’s freaking 46, has gone through his wars, had time to build up a ton of character, but still comes off like an insufferable jerk – not that he doesn’t have a right to it, considering he probably kicks everyone’s ass at everything (maybe not his wife’s; she looks pretty intense). But consider Terry at 24 on Survivor. The castaways would have beaten him with a blunt object and buried his remains along with his Hidden Immunity Idol. So let’s keep in mind that one’s a kid, one’s a man.

All that said, Cirie has impressed me big time, has combined a sense of gamesmanship with grace, the last person you would have expected it from after watching Episode 1. And gotta say, Danielle’s grown on me, too. Down to earth, kinda cute, seems pretty sincere. Umm, and very perky breasts. :dubious:

Disagree. Cirie would have been the first person voted out after clearly being the weak link in the opening immunity challenge, except for the fact that she engineered the ouster of the strongest member of her tribe. She’s been a wily one right from day one.

Disagree. Compared to a lot of the folks on her tribe, she’s proven herself a workhouse around the camp, and while she doesn’t do well at endurance type challenges, I still applaud her for her “I’m gonna sit on you, bitch” moves at the “wrestle the bag away from the opponent and get it across the finish line” team immunity challenge back in week four or five.

Moonchild: With the Sunday finale being a final three instead of a final four, not sure yet if Aras makes it that far. If it turns out he does, and the viewing party is at a public locale, hit me up on IM if you want to go…will feed you the details.

Aras is 24? Dos he still live with his mom?? I doubt it. Terry/Cirie have lived/slept with their spouses for 15+ yrs, probably every night. No comparison. No doubt he did the right thing, but I would have switched Shane and Cirie. Shane would have loved being with his kid at camp moreso than Cirie I bet.

Again, I am late to the party. The season doesn’t inspire me to hit play on the DVR like past seasons. And it is sad that we have a Survivor so dominate that he surpasses even Tom and Boston Rob, but I still don’t care.

What I DO like about the season is that Cirie is eliminating also rans instead of power players.

And now, the less anticipated, highly derivative RICH RANKINGS! (Tribe and previous ranking in parenthesis)

FORGOT TO FILE A 1040- I guess you couldn’t outwit everyone!

Tina,Melinda,Misty,Ruth, Bobby,Dan,Nick- Now that there is a jury, we will no longer comment on these losers.

THE BOBBY JON LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD- The Jury deserves a special distinction from those in loser lodge.

Austin- (Jury/LaMina)- Austin clearly votes for Terry.
Sally- (Jerky/La Mina)- Sally also supports Terry.
Bruce- (Tom/Casaya)- Bruce favors Terry.
Courtney- (Mohawk/Mohak)- I think Courtney also favors Terry.

Shane- (Jerky/Casya)- He did everything he could in TC to boost his chances at staying. But what he didn’t know was Cirie sees weak players as a threat. I think he’ll be pretty bitter, and Terry let him have his moment with his son.

EATING BEEF JERKY- You’re still playing, but you’re praying for a tribe scramble!

Aras- (Tom/Casaya)- I like Aras, but this episode he was a bit of a whiner. I know Terry annoys him, but Terry’s RC breakdown was exactly the right way to do it.

WHO SAID ANYTHING ABOUT A MERGE?- Middle of the pack players, the lotta ya!

Danielle- (Tom/Casaya)- She’s kind of in the middle ground. She burned Terry last week, but she really is the best person for him to align with. Is it too late for her? And are fake boobs genetic?

HEY! LOOK AT HIS MOHAWK-You might make the merge, but you’re grimacing from the jury row!

Empty this week.

LOOKING FOR A BIG TOM TO ENGLISH DICTIONARY- Big Tom has spent more combined days on the show than anyone. But he didn’t quite grab the brass ring.

Not enough to fill it out.

ARE YOU A RAT OR A SNAKE?- Reserved for a MAXIMUM of two players. You have to be in the driver’s seat for this spot.

Cirie- (Rat/Casaya)- The last two TCs have produced the EXACT result she wanted. If she can oust Danielle next week, she is GUARANTEED a spot in the final two.
Terry- (Rat/La Mina)- I thought his idol lost his power this week. If he wins immunity next week, he essentially gets to choose who gets ousted by offering the individual idol to someone. Like him or not, he deserves to win.

Cirie has indeed proven to be less useless than she initially seemed, though outside of that bag challenge I can’t think of a physical challenge she’s been competitive in. However, I wasn’t talking about that. I was talking about that first tribal council, after she’d been the obvious weak link in the older women tribe during the immunity challenge, and had been going on about being afraid of leaves and having never been camping in her life while back at camp. She was the most blatantly obvious choice imaginable to be removed to improve the older women’s chances in future challenges, especially in comparison to the lumberjack woman. That’s she’s proven herself in many ways since then is pretty much irrelevant to my point, which was that convincing her tribemates to dump their strongest teammate instead of her was exactly the same wily manipulation we’re seeing now.

Then we don’t disagree.

Gamesmanship, according to Dictionary.com: The art or practice of using tactical maneuvers to further one’s aims or better one’s position.

And she has done this with a sense of grace: nobody is pointing the finger at her (in anger) that she’s the culprit behind Shane’s & Courtney’s ouster.

Interesting, though, that Danielle trusts her so completely. She won’t for long.

And the previews do show that she wises up.

Should be interesting next week. Unless Danielle wins immunity, or Terry does and gives it to her, it’ll likely be a tie vote at TC. If both Terry and Danielle have immunity, I guess Aras gets the boot. I assume Terry and Danielle will figure that Cirie made some enemies on the jury, although it’s hard to tell. Sometimes even the guys you kick out come to respect the way you played even though you caused them to lose.

I think it’s gang-up time from here on in, with Danielle and Terry sticking together like glue.

Next challenge, they have to hope for Terry to continue his amazing IC streak, with Danielle offering backup in case it’s a challenge unsuited for Terry to win. (Know your competitors challenge, or maybe previous Survivor season trivia.)

Assuming either one of them wins, Terry gives the hidden immunity to whichever of them didn’t win. They they gang up and vote out Aras.

Final three with Cirie gives them an automatic final 2; no way in hell Cirie outlasts either Terry or Danielle in the final endurance challenge, much less both of them. After Cirie drops, they can just step down and take each other to the final 2.

Where, frankly, I think it would be a coin flip who would win. As opposed to Cirie or Aras against either of them, which would be a guaranteed loss either way. No, the key is for Terry and Danielle to collude all the way to the final, making sure to face off against Cirie in the final 3 challenge.

The hidden immunity is equally crucial for both Terry and Danielle at this point.

What I disagreed with was that you said Cirie was “the last person you would have expected it from after watching Episode 1.” I contend that even in Episode 1 she displayed superior gamemanship, and that it should be no surprise to see that she’s been pulling the strings the last few episodes.

They didn’t have the food auction this season. Is that the first time ever?
