Survivor - 5/4

Mike and Matt are officially in a “Good Christian”-off.

A lot of Christians on this version of Survivor.

Seriously, though, I actually like “Iraq Vet” guy and his choice to let other have their family. It’s a good move and if he does somehow end up back in the game, it will get him votes.

I have a feeling Rob is in trouble.

Not anymore.

Man, I got exhausted just watching that challenge. Anyone wanna do the math on how many steps in all they had to climb?

Sorry, I have to use all my math mojo on figuring out how many people are coming and going back and forth into the game and out on goddamn Redemption Island.

SWAG (Somewhat Wild Ass Guess)

5 sections of 6 steps apiece

15 steps to complete to stage 1
72 (612) steps to get to bottom stage 2 6 times
15 steps to complete stage 2
144 (6
24) steps to get to stage 3
15 steps to complete stage 3
1 step to the top
12 steps 6 steps twice to see what the bottom step of stage 2 and stage 3 were.

So if done perfectly about 275-280 steps.

Line of the night: Jeff to Phillip.

SLAM-DUNK!!!

I was reminded when Jeff asked in TC – is there an HII in play at the moment?

Nope, Rob’s got it, nobody else knows he has it or is bothering to look for it (AFAICT), and apparently Ralph’s was not re-hidden.

Does anyone know the last time Rob gets to use the idol?

I was pretty surprised by that. I knew he would give up the reward, but I was sure he would give it to the other RI guys.

I thought Jesus himself was going to be Matt’s family member.

At this point, the only way Redemption Island can serve a purpose is to bring the last player back when it is down to the final three. One win and he/she is in the finale. Anytime sooner than that and they’ll get voted out immediately. Clearly, the shift to three of four surviving on RI is to keep Matt in the game.

The final five is a 4-1 situation, but the one (Phillip) is being kept around as a guaranteed loser. If Rob does not win immunity next week, there surely has to be a coup attempt, even if he wards it off with his HII. Somebody has to try something. Don’t they?

I think it might have been a mistake for Rob to have won the IC. He’s already the number one guy, great at puzzles, and now he’s shown he’s very good at physical tests. It seems like he just made the target on his back even bigger.

Also, I was looking forward to seeing Amber. I used to think she had an A1 heinie, and was curious to see if it was still as nice. Why didn’t she show up?

I’m pretty sure she just had a kid. Or might still be pregnant. I can’t remember.

And yeah, I disappointed she didn’t show up.

I think she was still pregnant when this season was filming. Either that or she’d just had the baby before the season began.

Ashley and her mother are the classic “This is exactly what I’m going to look like when I’m 50” pair.

That would be such a cheap move by the show. It would render all the strategy used to play the game pointless.

Rob is going to have to break up Natalie and Amber next. If he doesn’t then he’ll be at a disadvantage when it comes time for the final four.

I’m dying to know what Philip’s “oral argument” is going to be.

Me too. At this point, I want him to make it to the end just to find out what his killer idea is that no one else has thought of.

Also, did anyone else find it weird when Jeff kept calling Rob “Mariano?” Obviously, Jeff and Rob know each other well enough and we all know his name, but last names are usually left out of the game unless there’s two people with the same name. I remember in an early season (Africa, maybe?) there was a late challenge where people had to answer trivia about other tribemates. One question was simply “What is “x” last name?”

Yeah, I think Rob has to attack Ashley next- if he indeed wants to face Natalie in the final. Then I assume the Redemption Island person will come in, Rob will still have his idol and be able to knock the new person off. Then it’s Grant/Rob/Natalie/Phillip, and I think the obvious choice for everyone in that situation is to vote Grant off since he’d likely sweep a jury vote. I’m assuming that’s Rob’s plan, and no doubt he has a good shot against Natalie.

If Grant wins F4 immunity though, Rob is probably screwed. Even if he makes it to F3, there’s no way he wins that vote.

I really hope Andrea comes back in the game and is able to shake things up though. Without the threat of Matt returning, she might have a better shot.

If Matt wins Survivor is broken. Voted out twice, absent for most of the game, getting by because of the bullshit group duels.

Mike, who looks like some kind of sour-faced water mammal with those whiskers, has whipped Matt twice now.

I’m seeing a math problem here. There are 6 - 7 days left (It’s 39 days right?). There are 9 people still in the game, and 2 TC + 2 RI challenges left. 3 of the 4 on RI are fierce competitors, any one of which could spell trouble in a final challenge in the game. There is going to be a life changing day real soon on Survivor.

Did Jeff call Philip a diplomat at TC?
