Survivor All Stars 2/12

[spoiler]I agree with Chastain, because Jenna really boned her 5 remaining tribe mates.

John Mace: well put.

Also, Rupert is sooo toast.

Rupert!!!
I like Rupert but my god, how idiotic and stubborn was that? “I’ve been building houses for 20 years!!!”. I now believe what Shawn said at the reunion show last season. He claimed that CBS only showed Rupert at his best and he was not the person shown.

Rupert goes from his tantrum about wanting to do it his way to acting like a child, pouting in the shelter saying “It’s all my fault”. As if the rest of the tribe didn’t already know this. Catching fish does not make you the defacto leader and smarted person on the tribe.

I haven’t heard otherwise, so forgive me if I’m wrong about this, but I would bet money that the Survivor All-Stars were paid to be on Survivor All-Stars. Do you think all of the selected would go back to their own personal hell (“Last night was the most miserable night of my life…”) to face off against the likes of Richard FOR FREE? I don’t think so.

Perhaps Jenna’s choice to return to Survivor was financially motivated.

Sidebar: how about the personality turnaround of Jerri??? I know she’s an actress, but tears of sadness for her foes two weeks straight? I don’t think she’s that good. I can’t belive I’m when she’s crying.

I’m sure there would be a stipulation preventing someone from just quitting (regardless of the reason) and still collecting the money.

Richard. Hatch. Bit. A shark.

That is all I have to say.

Next day…no spoilers

I argue the opposite. Jenna is just as much a pussy as Osten, she just hid her pussiness behind sudden (and rather late) concern for her mother’s health. At least Osten had the class to admit that he didn’t have what it took to be on Survivor. Jenna used her mother’s terminal illness to rationalize her exit, and that knocks her off the ladder completely in my book.

Question: What exactly had changed about Jenna’s situation in the 8 odd days they had been in Panama?
Answer: Jenna got uncomfortable. She was cold. She was hungry. She was tired. She was thirsty. Suddenly she has an epiphany about where she really belongs.

ps. sorry your mom died

I just love Richard. He bit a shark, just awesome. I think he’s been pretty funny with his confessionals too.

Rupert just screwed himself. I don’t know anything about building, but it’s common sense, when you’re near water you don’t want to build in a hole in the ground.

I’m sorry that Jenna’s mother passed away, but I agree that she shouldn’t have gone on the show to begin with. Her mom has been sick for a long time.

John Mace said: I do, however, put Osten a few rungs lower in the ladder than Jenna. He dropped out becuse he was a pussy.

No, I agree with John Mace. Osten walked around the first two or three days, crowing about what a true Survivor he was and how he was in such great shape, thinking he might even “hook up” with someone. Then he got tired and cold (because he got rid of all his clothes!) and hungry a few days in, and then dropped out. He is the true definition of Big Fat Wuss.

Jenna made it all the way to the end in her time on Survivor, remember?
This time it was a combination of being tired and hungry, and the constant worry about her mother. If she didn’t have that huge weight of worry nagging at her, she would have been able to stick it out. They finally had fire and water, and were getting things together. Dealing with someone who’s dying of a long-drawn out disease just drains you. The constant worrying is enough to kill you.
I also think she had no freaking business being there, if her mother was that sick. She did screw over her teammates, in a way, and also took that position away from soemone else who might have deserved the spot.

BiblioCat I respectfully disagree. Take your passage regarding Jenna’s worries about her mom and insert “Osten and his temple”. I simply don’t see the distinction…save for the fact that Osten didn’t seem to realize the fragility of his temple. The same can’t be said for Jenna’s knowledge of the fragility of her mother’s life.

As to her previous win, I seem to recall her sharing “my mom is dying” in the Amazon and getting tons of support and concern from her teammates (or should I say “competition”) there. I think she is the most undeserving winner in the history of Survivor, and I have to question how far such sympathy boosts got her in the early weeks of the previous game.

Poor Rupert, the whole situation reminded me of nightmares I’ve had.

I kept hoping that during the storm, while the other teams were miserable they would show Saboga nice and comfy, protected from the wind and rain.

Shawn was right. The world is seeing the real Rupert now. Since his voted out Tantrum on, his real personality emerges. Looks like thos 5 weeks were manufactured by CBS in the editing room.

Boston Ron is popular with the ladies, and not making stupid mistakes. This has to be the biggest surprise of the show so far.

Rob S. acting lazy is a surprise too. He seems to have forgotten he is not in a tribe of idiots now.

Richard is growing on me- throwing down on the shark was great.

Shii-Ann’s absurd list of Barbie dream home features cracked me up.

The disclosure at the end really caught me by surprise.

BTW- “V” was the must undeserving winner ever.

I’ll start off with the “controversial” part–I believe that if Jenna were that worried about her mother, she shouldn’t have gone in the first place. I understand her decision to go home, and I sympathize for her loss, but I sure as hell wouldn’t take off for a month and a half if my mother were terminally ill.

Poor, poor Rupert. sigh A hole in the ground???. I don’t know jack about building … but even I wouldn’t have made a hole in the ground. And Chapera is really living in style now, huh? Boston Rob may not always be the smartest guy, no matter what he thinks, but he’s earning himself some major points this time around. And since I’ve got money on him, go Rob!

Did anybody see Richard bite the shark? I admit, my attention was divided between the television and my newly arrived Chinese food, but all I saw was him smacking it against the rock. If he lied, that’s hilarious, but if he actually bit the shark, that’s brilliant.

I don’t care how unJerrilike she’s being, I still don’t like Jerri. Or Amber.

And that looked like it was going to be a really cool IC. I hope they reuse it!

I see Osten and Jenna as about equal in being quitters. Like others have said, Jenna didn’t have any business going on the show if her mom was so bad off and she was concerned. I think they should have had a proxy tribal council and laid down her torch. They could have done it tastefully, like sort of a memorial ceremony.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a tragic thing that happened to her, but I can’t help thinking she was hoping to play the sympathy card again when she entered the game this time. I feel she didn’t deserve to win the first time around. And the way she treated Christy in that game was terrible, especially after Christy was nice enough to let her have a letter from home. Maybe she was hoping her tears would win for her again in this game.

Not having any “cute girls” to be peers with in the tribe probably didn’t help her comfort level in the All Star game either.

Yes, I was saddened by the outcome last night. But I never thought she deserved to be there in the first place.

I think I heard big Tom say that if his family died in a car accident, he’d still complete the game.

I hope Osten and Jenna haven’t set the pace for games to come.

I like Rupert, but he really messed up in this one. When I heard he wanted to dig a hole, I already had visions of it flooding. If you dig down deep enough on a beach, you’ll get a hole full of water. And I couldn’t see if they were beyond the berm of the beach, but I think you’d have to realize that even so, if there is beach and signs of erosion, there is a chance that water will reach up to that erosion.

I think they should have gone into the jungle and built a “Swiss Family Robinson” inspired treehouse. Maybe if he and Rudy had joined forces with Ethan and got rid of Jenna last week, Rudy could have been able to convince Rupert that his sunken cabin idea was just wrong.

As for Richard, he grew on me the first time around and though I hated him at first, I think he deserved his win. He’s the only previous winner I’d like to see win this game.

 Farmman could probably tell you why this is so funny.

Let’s hope not. I mean, I understand why Jenna was invited to be a part of the All-Star show – a sexy former-winner who looks good in a bikini and has a penchant for getting naked isn’t someone you want to intentionally leave home, especially since the only nudity you’re getting these days is attached to a 40-something gay bear.

However, let’s call a spade a spade. Quitting the game is a crock of sh*t and I hope they don’t pay her a dime for her trouble. She knew the stakes when she signed on to play, and I don’t believe for a second her quitting was related to her mother. She was having a tough time, and she weighed that against her mother possibly slipping away. If Mogo Mogo had had fire and food, and had won Reward, her reaction probably would not have been the same.

New York Ken Stafford. “Porn Star” Brian Heidik. “Burn Victim” Michael Skupin. Johnny Fairplay. These are all contestants we could have been watching if we hadn’t been watching her blubber around and generally bring nothing to the table.

I’ll be unpopular along with you. Everything you said above is exactly what I was thinking. It was selfish of her to leave her mother’s side (think of the time she missed with her) and it was selfish to deny another player the chance at the million. And she already won anyway!!

Did anyone else think there was some very rough editing to the sequence at the IC? Particularly, Jenna’s comments that her mother was getting worse and Jeff’s comment that it sounded like she was getting updates somehow. It just seemed very stilted, like a very bad edit.
