Survivor Blood v Water season thread

Yes. From Survivor wiki:

I just realized something about last night…OF COURSE Hayden was advocating everyone to go to rocks! He and Monica were the ones who wouldn’t be subject to the rock, being the two who had tied in the votes. That was kind of smooth…I don’t think either Katie or Ciera quite realized what the rocks would mean for the guy who was most vocal about going that route.

I think they lost a golden opportunity to boot off Monica.
She is a strong contender to win immunity challenges.
She missed wining this one by a hair.

Tyson is too smug and unfortunately luck seems to be on his side.
Finding two idols and then the stone draw and hes sailing to the final three.
Hayden was absolutely correct in all he said at tribal council.

Next week I think it wont be a surprise but to see Hayden gone unless he wins immunity.
The only thing he can do is to try to show that Tyson is leading them on by having the Imunity idol and keeping it a secret.

I wonder if its enough to sway the votes of Monica and Gervais but I dont think it is.

I continue to be befuddled by why everyone is ignoring Monica when they try and find someone to turn against Tyson. Why try for Gervase instead of Monica? Dumb. All she does is say nothing, gliding under the radar, then dominates at the immunity challenge. She has a good chance to win, I think. A good jury argument (and more immunities) and I think she could even win over Tyson and Gervase in a final 3.

Hayden was masterful; Ciera was moronic. Hayden knew they would be targetting him, so to get it to a tie vote meant he wasn’t at risk of drawing a rock. (Note how Gervase was also quite happy to pull rocks, knowing he was safe). He also was smart to switch the vote to Monica, making her safe in a tiebreaker instead of Tyson.

As for Ciera, I’d much rather have a 99% shot at top 4, even knowing I’m on the bottom 4, than a 1-in-3 shot at going home tonight. Especially when you consider that you’ll be getting either Laura, Tina or Katie returning to the game (though it’s possible they drag it out one more ep and whoever gets voted out next has a shot to return).

I find it interesting that the first purple rock tiebreaker was actually done incorrectly (it was at the final 4, so by eliminating both those with immunity and the two being voted for, it would’ve been only one person drawing a rock).

Yeah, I don’t get why the two with the highest votes are puling the rocks. In fact those who get a vote should be the ONLY one pulling rocks.

Likely Hayden did approach Monica but she just shut him down. There’s hours & hours & hours of film left on the cutting room floor.

Because TPTB don’t WANT rocks to be pulled. It’s totally random and tough to build a narrative around because of it. They want to make Rocks such a risk to the ones actually voting that they very rarely choose to do so. And it generally works…the last time they pulled rocks was 23 seasons ago.

If you mean instead of Monica, that would have made Tyson immune to rocks.

Wasn’t there a time when the tiebreaker would have been a fire starting challenge?

I think they’ve only used the fire-starting challenge when they’re at 4 or less people, likely because the rock draw doesn’t work correctly when you get that low (since only one person would be drawing a rock - one person has immunity, and the other two were voted for).

I do like the concept that the two people voted for are safe from the rock draw. It means the people voting have to decide how attached they are to their vote, even if it puts them at risk.

Probst tweeted about this. The rules state they use rocks until the final four. Then, they do the fire making.

There’s also the feeling of punishing the voters for failing at working like a team, which is pretty darned ironic.

Props to Tyson for the attempted stealth brag: “I have to hide it in my crotch because they won’t be surprised to see a bulge there.” Then, at the challenge, he has his shirt tucked into his shorts and… no bulge.

I’m trying to figure out what Ciera was thinking. I guess a summary is: Fuck this. After Gervaise (Twice! Idiot!) indicated she was on the bottom of the four. She was laughing when she made the second tie vote. It looked like a “fuck you” to Gervaise and Tyson for putting her in that position. Basically Gervaise was to blame for all this drama - about right?

That’s awful.

I kept wondering who Hayden reminded me of, and I think he reminds me of one of the Gibbs from the Bee Gees. The teeth, the hair, the facial structure. It’s too bad he’s ruftled so many feathers…

Ciera was clearly at the bottom of her alliance, and she needed to make a move. Too bad she didn’t make that connection BEFORE sharing the HII clue with the people she turned on, or she wouldn’t be in the pickle she’s in.

Hay-done made a good case for Ciera to flip, but only after Jeff Probst painted the picture pretty clearly for her. Jeff can be very persuasive because he doesn’t have any skin in the game.

I really thought that there was a chance that Gervase was going to write Monica’s name down, simply because it was his chance to get rid of his strongest competitor. Of course, that would have put HIM 4th in his new alliance, so he was smart to stay where he is. But I think that Monica would be tough to beat if she makes it to the finale.

Tyson, on the other hand…he is killing himself with his tongue. I mean, was there any reason for him to be such an ass when he chose to eat food instead of participating in last week’s challenge. Again last night, he had to open his mouth and be snarky to potential jury members, when he’d be so much better off staying silent. As entertaining as his one-liners are, they are not winning him any friends. I certainly wouldn’t vote for him over Monica or Gervase, who have the smarts to keep their mouths shut.

I wonder when this Redemption Island thing is going to end. It seems pretty evident that Laura M is going to re-enter the game. If it’s next week, then that will really help Ciera’s “new” alliance with Hayden. Otherwise, she could be toast because Tyson/Monica/Gervase know that they have to get rid of her before her mom re-enters the game.

P.S. Listen up, people. If you are ever in a position to choose who is going to go to a reward with you, ask ALL of your alliance members to pick random numbers. DON’T pick them yourself, because it betrays the pecking order.

Yeah, just have them do rock paper scissors or something.

Too bad she didnt do it the previous tribal council. How could she not see that she would always be bottom 4 when it comes to Tyson, Monica and Gervase?
It was more than obvious that those three were tight and she would never be considered.

Ideally the return of Cieras Mom would be the best thing to happen but at this point any of the people on redemption island will vote against the trio.
So I predict a tie vote again with Hayden and either Monica (or Gervase if she wins immunity)

Gervase doesn’t seem to have a clue that he’s not perceived as being on top of the game, so he can’t possibly beat Tyson in the final vote. He also hasn’t considered the possibility of Monica winning immunities clear to the end…

After Katie got voted out, Tyson as much as told Katie & Tina he didn’t need their vote, and really? He does. He needs every single vote he can scrape together at this point because everybody is hating how well he’s playing the game, and he’s not even trying to hide it any more.

Wouldn’t Monica vs. Laura be a killer combo at the duels?

Monica, Monica, Monica. That was a stupid move. Sure, you’r at the bottom of the heap no matter which side you’re on, but the jury is going to respect you more as a player if you make a move against Tyson. As it is, you’re just the tag-along.

It’s a tough position to be in though - if you go with Hayden/Ciera, then you’re basically just being Hayden’s lapdog and getting talked into going along with them (like Ciera did). Better to stick to your guns, especially since either Hayden or Laura will be returning (sorry Tina). Even if you assume she has no chance of winning, I wouldn’t blame her for wanting final 3 instead of possibly being 4th in that group. If she’s smart, she can argue immunities and that she was a swing vote, etc. Play Tyson and Gervase off each other and make their supporters cancel each other out.

I’m also wondering if there might be a chance for Monica to jump ship and flip later. After either Laura or Hayden return, vote with the Ciera/returnee group just to show how important you were as a flip vote and that you ruled the game.

The last episode is going to be crazy full, with the final RI duel, an immunity challenge, a vote from 5 to 4, another immunity challenge, a vote from 4 to 3, and then the final tribal council. And that’s leaving out the typical “fallen comrades” time waster.

I note we didn’t get a “loved ones” challenge this time around… because they all were?
